Did a great dissection in Las Vegas. The horse had alot of pathology in its right front limb navicular bone. The RF navicular bone had signs of bone loss and a cyst on the palmar aspect. The left front navicular bone also showed signs of osteitis.

The first image shows the first time I trimmed this horse's right hind in 2021. He just got sold to a new owner so I was looking back at how far his feet have come since then. The photo on the right is his right hind 2 years later.

This horse went from having no heels to solid heels and almost perfect heel/toe angle parallelism. I outlined the change of shape in his feet to really make it easy to see the difference.

This post really shows the distal (torward the ground) drift that can happen in as quickly as 3 shoeing cycles in open heeled shoes. Look at the shape and location of the frog after being barefoot vs after 3 shoeing cycles. Research shoes that frog support pads mimic similar conditions to horses being barefoot.

Some progress photos on a horse in pads. The overall foot shape has changed, the heels are less underrun and stronger, and the bulbs are healthier, th frog is healthier, the sole is thicker and has better density. This horses feet are definitely a work in progress; he goes in shoes and frog support pads.

A cool rebuild case I did this week. This horse has been barefoot in my care since last summer. The horse wore down his right front toe pawing at grass through the fence. I used glue to relevel his foot before shoeing his feet. Once the grass dries out we will transition him back to barefoot.
