I have had such a busy last 2-3 weeks that I've barely had time to think and completely forgot that I was a finalist in this LOL

Meet Vanilla
Vanilla and I have been on a journey together

She came to me about two years ago now as she could barely walk due a torn CCL and prior scarring from surgeries and well she was 11 at the time

Here we are...two years later and this gal has been defying the odds by allowing me to help change her diet, implement essential oil protocols and supplements and red light therapy
She was even able to get back into her marathons with her owner

Recently Vanilla was diagnosed with Melanoma and has a grape size growth on her toe.

So naturally we ramped up the protocols and added in some natural products specifically able to help with melanoma growths.

Is this a cure? Absolutely not! BUT this allows Vanilla to support her body naturally and makes her super comfortable without all the side effects of heavy duty medications that come with this diagnosis

She will be 14 in December and the goal is to get her there❤️

Help me cheer her on and show support for this amazing. This breed doesn't have a long lifespan but she has surpassed it by a LOT 🙌 thanks to some changes in her daily life

To say this past week was rough is an understatement
Our industry has been rocked by the actions of Kippen Cares and we are all taking a hit from it

I can't thank everyone enough for the support from past and present clients who have reached out to check in
I know the care I give is top notch and the animals that come into my care all love being here

There are so many ways to look for a reputable sitter. Just because someone has a license to operate doesn't mean they are reputable and the right fit for you and your pet

Remember to always ask a lot of questions.
I probably ask more questions than my clients 😂 that's also another great way to know if someone is good. They want to know it all!! The more I know the better

Ask for references or do a search. Nowadays it is so easy to look up someone's business online and see what people are saying

Request a meet n greet
Check out the place where your pet will be staying . There have been times I couldn't get a client inside due to the nature of some dogs in my care and the majority understand. I always bring dogs out to interact
I've had lots of people always ask if we would meet at a park which surprised me. I always tell people to come to my house and bring their dog and family if they need...whatever will make them comfortable

And it doesn't matter if they choose me or not. I will always tell them to make sure they go through the same process with someone else as they did with me. Make sure YOU are comfortable with whom you leave your pet with

Right now the focus is to challenge the systems in place to protect our animals
So many things failed these families that attended Kippen Cares and there needs to be change

I can't thank everyone enough for the kind messages..truly means a lot
This never gets easier with each pet and will take some time to heal

A few weeks ago Sammy had a multitude of seizures and we did everything we could to support his body once we got the seizures under control

Unfortunately last week what we thought was him still coming out of his seizures, was in fact dementia
If you have never seen a dog who has dementia, it is the most awful and painful thing to watch
He would be up all night pacing and not settling which means I was up following him and making sure he didn't get stuck
He would get stuck in corners or easy areas that he could get out of but not anymore

His body seemed to process all sedatives super fast so it would take him 3-4 hours to finally settle then sleep for an hour and back at it

Sadly we had to make the decision as it was affecting his quality of life

This pic is his very last dog park walk the day before he was laid to rest

I cannot express how much having someone come to do a home euthanasia is 1000 times better than going to the vet

Again thank you everyone for all the support and Sammy thanks you and all his doggy friends over the years ❤️

Oh my days 😱😱😱
Well butter 🧈my butt and call me a biscuit!!

The results are in and I couldn't be happier 🤩

Who would've thought little ol' me would be taking the top spot for Holistic Wellness, second for Pet Sitting and third for Aromatherapy

Little ol' me who started this journey almost 7 years ago and has been able to help so many animals and their owners through good times, bad times, memorable times, etc...

So many times you feel like you don't belong or you have no idea what you're doing but then you see the results after helping a dog or person and it just motivates you that much more to keep going and get the word out

I am super thankful and grateful for all the support and looking forward to continuing this amazing journey for as long as I can and who knows..I might have a few cool things in the works for the future 😉

What a week it has been and it's not getting any easier 😞

Sammy unfortunately had 9 seizures in the span of 48 hrs that we couldn't get under control in the beginning of the week
Meds were given but that made him a zombie and he still continues to have seizures but less

We had no choice as every time he had a seizure they lasted a long time and took him longer each time to come out of it

All the work the Osteopath has done to support his back end and spine has been ruined and he's in worse shape

He won't sleep...he wanders all day and all night...he's very confused and in pain and it breaks my heart to watch him go through this

I've got new protocols in place and with the help of my professor and others in the field, I will have a plan that will work for him to support his body and brain

I'm exhausted as it is round the clock care and there's no sleep for him or me
I'm behind on everything and trying to form a new routine
I'm asking for patience as I get caught up and please don't think I'm ignoring messages...it is just taking me a little longer to respond ❤️🙏

I know nothing will potentially cure him but I want him to be comfortable and not in pain
He deserves it as this is not how it will end for him ❤️🐾🐶

Poor Sammy 😞

Sammy has developed seizures out of the blue
Fors time appeared at 5:30am yesterday morning

After yesterday morning's seizure he had another 3 in less than 24 hours
That's rough for a dog

After the second one we took him to the vet for blood work and all came back clear..in fact he is actually extremely healthy according to the vet

So that basically means that there's a brain blockage or its something structural
Only way to know for sure is an MRI which is very costly or meds to get things under control if it keeps ups

Lots of oils are being used and other natural items to help support his body every time he has an episode and to also help with his recovery time after each episode

Round the clock care for this guy for a bit ...I mean I wasn't really sleeping anyways 🤪

Had he not being on a species appropriate diet on top of all the Essential oils that he gets and other natural supplements, he might be in different shape
And the fact that my house is like 95% toxin free also helps to keep these seizures at bay or to help manage them a little bit better

Fingers crossed we can get this under control

This is the face that didn't care that mom's friend went through all the fields looking for him and mom couldn't find her friend

Often I get questions like "Are oils safe for pets?"

I have been invited to teach a class where I will share some tips, safety protocols and what some of my favourite oils to use with your pets

It's always interesting that people worry about essential oils but people are not worried about cleaning products, candles, perfume, fabric refresher,laundry detergent etc. They all have WAY more toxins in them. We will discuss that and you may be shocked.

I pride myself on being able to help animals holistically as much as possible and I will learn every skill I have to to keep doing what I do however there are some things I just can't do quite yet

Sammy has always had issues in his back end due to some trauma he received prior to entering the foster care system

Everything has been done to properly support him, his bones, his body and his muscles but we have hit a point where he needs a little extra help

If you have not taken your pet to see a pet osteopath you need to!!
It doesn't matter whether your dog or cat is having issues, it's always good to take them in to have them checked even if it's just for maintenance
Especially dogs that are prone to hip dysplasia or larger breed dogs where their joints start to go at the age of four

She is absolutely amazing and already since we've seen her last night in the span of 12 hours, Sammy is already walking and moving so much better❤️

Meet Bo
No got a new sister a couple months ago and now she's 5 months and likes to play rough with him. Her sharp puppy teeth caused a small puncture on the top of his head
Due to the location and as it was healing, Bo kept scratching it and made the area around raw and bleeding
He was staying with us for a week and parents gave me permission to treat him
They kept applying colloidal silver for a couple of days but it wasn't doing the trick
So off I went with my protocol

Day 1 - This shows dried up blood and dirt and slight oozing. Cleaned area with some 50/50 hydrogen peroxide.
Applied some Green Clay mixed with Colloidal Silver and Frankincense essential oil

Day 3 - Removed green clay and all loose skin and fur and dabbed some 50/50 hydrogen peroxide to make sure it was disinfected
I called the amazing from as I had been trying to shave the area for a couple of days and no go 😆 Definitely not my area of expertise...so I called in the big guns
Daisy shaved the area I needed in 5 secs and now I could see much better

I then applied Aloe direct from the plant. And off he went to bed

Day 4 - The aloe is doing its job and healing the area nicely. Although it looks worse than it is, it's not
Cleaned up with some peroxide just to be safe and make sure no infection is going to set in and applied Aloe 3 times a day for the next few days

Day 6 - This was the day Bo was going home. New fur was already growing back. All the dead skin had fallen off and new skin was healing/healed

During this whole process he had to wear a cone otherwise he would've scratched it open

And you know the best part? This cost the owners a fraction of what it would've cost them at the vets and took half the time to heal than anything else
Plus, it's natural, safe and way less stress on the animal

Always remember there's another way, a safer way to treat your pets. Not all ailments require a trip to the vet
