Twin Thickets llewellins lineage, Trace, Tuck, Harper, Buck, and Gus are located in four separate states, but have one commonality, finding wild birds! Bird dog plus bird dog = Bird dogs! Don’t let these lounging Llewellins fool you. These twin thickets prodigy’s , Fudge and Diamond are 11 years old now. They’ve pointed there fair share of bobs in Texas and huns in Canada over the years. All of that fine bird work has earned them a lucrative retirement in Virginia.

It was good to have my Hoosier buddy, Charles McClain from My Way Llewellin setters take in a Ky Wild bird hunt yesterday with the Twin Thickets crew. We were successful with a few covey finds and a few birds to fly into our shot pattern. We ended the day enjoying two upstarts, Frogg and Yankee working birds in the training field. These dogs were from a mating of Snow and Comer from our kennels. Stay tuned! You’ll be hearing more from these girls in the coming years.

We kicked off our Ky season today. The gang started off where they left off last season, with finds, quality work, and a few feathers in the bag. Good to be back in the field!

Proud and thankful for these two! Steve and Combo had another exceptional NSTRA trial over the weekend. Combo is from the Twin Thickets Kennel, but would not have been possible without a mating to Steve and Angela Autry’s Waco dog. The pairing of WACO and my Twin Thickets Sally 11 years ago has built a strong foundation of phenomenal field llewellins. I’m forever thankful to my dear Autry friends!

I bird hunt because the previous generation took time to introduce me to the sport and the dogs. Mr. Steve is 83 and still going along! His wisdom, friendship, and many bird hunting tales, some tall, are always cherished. A nice morning hunt in Missouri today.
