It's hard to leave your pets at home when you have errands to run, but being separated could cause your pet to become overly anxious. It's important to be aware of separation anxiety to help your pet overcome it.

Make sure to schedule an appointment with your VCA veterinarian to discuss how to handle your pet's separation anxiety.

🚨💜🐶🐱💜🚨
VCA Charities is supporting Los Angeles Animal Services – in partnership with VCA – to cover the cost of adoption (not including license) for up to 250 dogs between Monday, June 27 & Friday, July 8. Every dog available for adoption is spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped – all they need is a new family!

👉 Every new adopter will also receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate offering a free examination & up to $250 in veterinary care to cover any minor illnesses. 👈

Shelters in Los Angeles – & across the country – are FULL & need your help! If you've been thinking of adding to your family, this is a great time to adopt. If you're not ready for the commitment but can host a dog for a couple weeks, this is the best time to foster. If you can't take on a pet at this time, please spread the word... Los Angeles shelter pets need the spotlight right now. Foster or adoption will help ease the burden on the shelters, make room for new animals in need &, most importantly, provide a loving home to a deserving dog.

If you need help selecting a new best friend, volunteers or staff members at the shelters can assist. Visit laanimalservices.com for list of current adoptables.

Join us in supporting our community – and supporting the joy of pet ownership.

Registered Veterinary Technician Mat, canine friend Asher & Dr. Melissa Céspedes have a little chat about Thanksgiving Day safety for pets. They'd like you to know of some dangers...

Turkey: bones can cause injuries & obstructions; ingestion of skin, fat or gravy can lead to painful & serious pancreatitis

Grapes, Raisins & Currants: can cause acute kidney failure & even death; certain dogs are more 'sensitive' to them & may become poisoned after eating just a few

Chewing Gum or Anything Containing Xylitol: dangerous artificial sweetener that can cause low blood sugar & liver problems

Chocolate, Onions, Garlic, Raw Bread Dough: as far as pets are concerned, that's no, no, no & no

The Trash: possibly the tastiest can of the year... keep it of paw's reach

Ma*****na: don't let your pet fall victim to re**er madness; stash that stash & be aware of the extra danger of edibles; see this link for more info: https://vcahospitals.com/shop/articles/toxin-spotlight-marijuana
