Just an update received today regarding Staffordshire History Centre's opening hours:

The research room is open 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 2pm every third Saturday of the month. Pre-booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.

Staffordshire Archives is reopening at last,on November 6th.Opening hours(I think) 10 to 4 Tuesday to Saturday.

News of Archives opening and closing....Staffordshire History Centre is to open later this year,no exact date as yet ......Meanwhile Cheshire Record Office is to close from 8 August 2024 and reopen as two History Centres,in Chester and in Crewe,in early 2026.

Two churches with Pearse family connections in London:St George in the East where my great great grandfather Robert was baptised, badly damaged during WW2 but restored .
Also St. John of Wapping where his brother William was baptised;only the tower was left following war damage plus the former school next door.

In case you haven't already used this facility, just a reminder that while the reading room at the National Archives is closed,a number of documents held there can be downloaded free of charge(see information from their website below).Now might be the time to act before the Archives reopen!
From https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
You will be able to download records digitised by The National Archives and published through Discovery, our online catalogue. These include:

First and Second World War records, including medal index cards
Military records, including unit war diaries
Royal and Merchant Navy records, including Royal Marine service records
Wills from the jurisdiction of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Migration records, including aliens’ registration cards and naturalisation case papers
20th century Cabinet Papers and Security Service files
Domesday Book
