This is a w**d that has been growing through our rhododendron right in front of a window.
It has little purple flowers that the honeybees are on every morning.

Early in the season for a honeybee rescue!!
Honeybees found inside a tree stump when a contractor took a storm damaged tree down in Denville NJ.
Today was just warm enough to transfer them to a hive and off they go to our apiary.
Queen was found on the second block of comb removed—that was pure luck!!!

The Geminid meteor shower is expected to be at its best Wednesday night, Dec. 13, through early Thursday morning, Dec. 14, but it will remain active through Christmas Eve.

The honeybees have another worry out there.
It’s hard enough trying to avoid varroa destructor, hive beetles, other issues the bees health, yellow jackets, bald faced hornets, European hornets and now this.

The yellow-legged hornet, Vespa velutina, is a close cousin of the northern giant hornet, or "murder hornet." Both of them are very adept in the wholesale destruction of honey bees.

HEY EVERYONE-Fresh Honey dropped off Dash of Thyme. Two cases of the best honey out there!!! Our honey sells out quickly—go grab a jar before they are gone. We will be extracting honey from the hives soon—I will post a message letting everyone know when we do that so you can get yours. The only way to get better honey is to actually be a honeybee!!! Our honey is not processed at all. It is not filtered. We screen the honey lightly to remove parts of wax and allowing the beneficial pollen to remain in the honey.(great for anyone local with allergies) The honey is poured into glass jars as we do not like plastic bottles. We do all of this work ourselves-from the apiaries /hives direct to our honey shed and after we fill the jars we label them too. (Yes I am usually the one that puts the labels on slightly crooked hahah) Just a mention to stop using pesticides and treatments that can kill our pollinators and help save the planet. Let’s all step up and try individually to make this a better place.

We have taken saving the planet into our own hands--one honey bee at a time. Our goal is to increase the awareness and importance of honey bees.

Honey and Beekeeping Supplies will also be available for sale.

Raising honey bees is such an awesome experience! Using the latest trends and time proven techniques for our 8 and 10 frame Langstroth style hives-we are giving the honey bees a greater chance of survival out there.

Our RAW LOCAL HONEY - DIRECTLY FROM OUR OWN HIVES will be available at harvest time (mid July usually). We will post a message when the honey is ready. It goes quickly because I ask each bee individually to seek out only the best nectar for our premium honey!!!
