Campaign to stop live pet sales in Pet shops.

We have removed the petting zoo story but will get together to see what else can be done.
The last thing we want to see is a legitimate hard working rescue being harassed, like some of the supporters to our post were.
(Via private messaging).
No comments will be permitted on this and I’m quite sure the rescue will pass on any harassment they receive.

I thought it only fair and reasonable that the “lobby group” that is pro selling animals in pet shops and is in full support of breeding, have their mission statement so everyone can read it and make their own decision about them.
Especially given that they are a publicly registered incorporated entity. This information is freely available on the internet via the website they have published.

Well it’s been an interesting 24 hours.
Having had a political lobby group threaten us with legal action for liable.
We have removed their name and our comments that could be deemed libellous.
Their last response prior to them deleting all of their comments was to tell us (this is a public page by a member of the public for the public to voice their opinions) that we are in no position to get answers from them as the why they, (as animal welfare activist group) support the sale of live animals in pet shops where the staff know little to nothing about their actual needs and are supporting breeders who breed these animals in even worse conditions.
Given what most of us do here, we are in a position to know what these conditions are, we all have pets (particularly rabbits) and know how they are most suitably housed and it’s not in a hutch down the back yard somewhere. (As a commenter on the page said!)
I struggle to understand how any group that is actually concerned with animal welfare can support the selling of live animals in pet shops. I wonder if they support the call for all animals to be classified as sentient beings???
I bet not!
If you are as disgusted with this group and the fact that they don’t think we (the public)have a right to hear their opinion on why they support the sale of animals in pet shops, then who are they wanting on side? I can only think of breeders and pet shop owners who would support them.
You know who they are so please let them know your feelings.

This is about breeder groups, trying to claw back control and be allowed to treat the animals they breed in any disgusting way they like!
So it’s not about about care, it’s about being able to run a puppy farm again, having uninformed staff members in pet shops selling hutches to people buying rabbits. !

Can anyone local to Rowville Best Friends please see if they are selling any live animals, and also if they are “adopting” out rabbits or Guinea pigs, just what the information given to adopters is please?

Please use this page if you find a pet shop selling rabbits as pets. We need to stop this now!
they are the ones keeping the back yard breeders in business!

“At the moment there are no rabbits currently living in these containers but with multiple signs around saying new animals coming in soon there will be! It is absolutely appalling! Went in to buy a gift for a friend with a puppy, walked out so mad! Had their been bunnies in there I would have said something but hopefully with this campaign they will think twice before the new animals arrive!”
