HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALEB! 1 YEAR OLD.

Caleb has been with us for 6 months now and as near as we have been able to figure this is his birthday week. So we are celebrating the joy of having a pet buddy.

Caleb has a brother!
"Coda"

O.K. not in the traditional sense of another dog. For the first time in 13 years Dog Creek has a cat in residence.
This little guy, showed up on our back porch a few days before we had that serious cold snap (-10 degrees). We brought him in and tried to find him a home. No luck and we could not bring ourselves to take him to the animal shelter. He is around 12 weeks old now and has turned out to be a buddy and playmate for Caleb. So, even though Caleb is around 50 pounds and Coda a whopping 3.5 pounds, they play hide and seek, (Guess who hides?) chase games and general rambunctious play. Caleb has been so gentle with this small kitten who loves to bite on Caleb's tail or feet. So, now we have the clomping of big feet and the silent patter of little feet. Looks like the year is starting well for us.

Monthaversary!

Celebrating Caleb's first month here at Dog Creek.
Spunky, playful little guy. He has turned out to be a very smart dog.
He has somewhat of a independent streak, but a very quick learner. He has learned things faster in his first month with us than any pet we previously had. Caleb loves to run and is pretty darn fast.
A joy to have around!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Very thankful for our new pup Caleb.
Met this guy at the local animal shelter and we became instant friends. Caleb is 7 months old and a sweet, very smart pup.
He has been with us for 2 weeks now and fit right into the household. Looking forward to many years with my new pal.

Sheila Wiggles makes me giggle!
Never knew a dog who could make me laugh so much.
Her antics provided a never ending source of entertainment.
She was also very bright and loving.
Her beautiful soul willed be missed.

So Glad I Mowed Yesterday! (Not)

Mother Nature, who can figure?
Waited all of April before I did my first mowing of the season.
Grass was thick, weather was a sunny 50 degrees, so I broke out the mower and went to work.

--In Memoriam--Samson & Delilah--

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It seems like every where I go lately, folks are angry. You hear it in their conversations at the barber or in the grocery store.
If not venting about the pandemic then it is politics and the on going battle between left and right. It may just be me, but it feels like the idea of meet in the middle for the over all good of the country, no longer exists. The line is drawn and either your right or your wrong!
So, with the words of the great John Prine, I leave you to ponder--

My Friend-Don Sills

Some friends are like the wind, some are like mountains. They come in and breeze out of your life, or they are there for a lifetime.

It's been 2 years since the passing of my buddy Don.
He is greatly missed, Thanks, Don for all the great memories.

I'm just sitting here drinking fine wine
and thinking of the days gone by
and whenever I think of the good old times
