We always advocate this when place a dog in a new home. Keep the leash on. Have something to grab if necessary.

A newly adopted or foster dog is at the highest risk of going missing during the first few days and weeks in a new home. Keeping a lead attached — even indoors in some cases — gives you a quick, safe way to prevent an escape before trust and routine are established.

Welcome Loki to MPMR! Our volunteer in the Wichita KS area just busted Loki out of the building! He has some heart health issues. Once he has been seen by our vet, we will update his story. His adoptability is not yet known. We have to check his health status before that decision can be made.
Meanwhile, Welcome little guy! You are safe now. Thank you to KHS for caring for him until we could find room for him.
We are doing Becky's Birthday Fundraiser right now. A donation towards Loki's initial vet visit would be very welcome.

Adopted.

Raleigh, NC
We received this request to help find this sweet older girl a new home.
Lexi is a 13-year-old min pin who has been with her person since she was just 6 weeks old. Her owner writes, She has been such a big part of my life—loyal, loving, and full of personality. This is truly one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.

Her personality is everything you’d expect from a min pin—she’s spunky, alert, and has that classic “big dog in a little body” energy. At the same time, she absolutely loves to cuddle and be close to her person. She enjoys cozy blankets, warm spots, and being right by your side. She’s very loyal and bonds deeply, and she thrives in a calm, predictable environment. Lexi is not good with cats, male dogs or small children.

She does best with adults or a quiet home where she can relax and feel safe. She would make an amazing companion for someone looking for a devoted little shadow to keep them company.

Unfortunately, I now have a toddler on the spectrum, and despite my best efforts, their interactions have become increasingly unsafe for both. I have tried everything I can to make it work, and I’ve also reached out to rescues in multiple states without success.

My goal is to find her a calm, loving home where she can spend her senior years feeling safe, relaxed, and cherished—ideally with someone who understands and loves the min pin personality. I truly believe there is someone out there who could give her the peaceful, happy life she deserves.

We are located in the Raleigh, NC area and are willing to travel within reason to find the right home for her.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting her—or if you have any leads on reputable miniature pinscher rescues or resources—please reach out to me. Even sharing this post would mean so much.

Thank you for reading and for helping me try to give my girl the remaining life she deserves.

She is spayed.

This is Lexi 💕

UPDATE!! ADOPTED!!

Harrisburg, PA! Meet Rambo!!!
This sweet boy was rescues last winter during a brutal cold spell. Rambo was living in a car with his family and a couple other dogs. A kind person took him in and has now reached out and asked if we can take him into our rescue. The person is continuing to foster him for us. Welcome to the MPMR Family!
Rambo is about three years old. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and takes monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He is housed with several dogs and cats. He responds really well to a single alpha leader, but can be a bit pushy, and well, "min pinnish" to others who are not viewed as his leader. He loves to work for food. He's around young children every weekend without issue, after proper introductions of course. He does mark indoors and wears a belly band. He doesn't love the crate, but it's used routinely.
More information to come!
Meanwhile, he is available for adoption in the Greater Harrisburg PA area!
