I don't have a photograph yet however we have been asked to help find a foster or placement for a mixed breed dog who according to the veterinarian has some miniature pinscher in it. The dog is located in the Springfield Ohio area. Millie is a female dog who's been diagnosed with diabetes. She currently weighs 28 lb and is 5 years old. She is black and tan. Today, that is all the information I have. Apparently upon being diagnosed with diabetes, the owner feels with her schedule she cannot maintain the insulin injections as needed nor does she feel she can afford the treatment. I know it's a long shot, but sometimes long shots actually come through. As I receive more information I will update this post. Again, there is a mixed breed dog in need of foster or placement in the Springfield Ohio area. The dog does have diabetes. Please message us if you can help or leave a comment.
Thank you.

Remember our little boy from the Lawrence Humane Society, Lawrence Kansas? This little old fella was abandoned in the country at an intersection near Topeka. Somehow he ended up in Lawrence at the shelter. We were contacted and asked if we could help. Of course we said yes, and Balboa as he was called then, made his way to our home and then to his foster in Wichita. Due to his age, being male, among other things we assumed no one would be interested. And they weren't. Until the wonderful woman saw his picture and asked if he was available to adopt. Of course we said yes! Fast forward to "Leo's" adoption to a wonderful home on Long Island New York! His new mama flew into Kansas City last Sunday and we met her at her hotel with Leo. It was truly love at second sight! Because she said she fell in love at first sight with his picture. All went well, paperwork was completed and the next day Leo flew off with his new mama to his new home in New York. He lives now with another dog, many cats as his folks do rescue work with a cat rescue, and lots of love. He is settling into his new home and new life with a new name that couldn't be more appropriate. Welcome home Toto, welcome home. 💕🐾🐾💕

Update: This sweetheart has been adopted and will be traveling to New York State next weekend with his new mama. She's flying in to get him! We are so happy for this little guy.

Just busted this guy out of the Lawrence Humane Society! He is about 10 years old, and as Sweet as Pecan Pie! Thank you to the LHS, Lawrence KS for keeping him safe and doing his neuter and dental!
He will be fostered in the Wichita Kansas area after Christmas, and will be available for adoption.

Welcome our Christmas Boy to MPMR Ohio! The shelter said the following about him:

"Teddy is a 10+ yr old shih tzu that is in need of rescue - he will likely need extensive medical care on his teeth, he appears to have a mass near his rear area and has matting near his eyes (which we’ve been working on cleaning up)- he is an absolute sweetheart and needs liberation from the shelter ASAP".

Well, he has been liberated and is in our Ohio Foster home. We promise you Teddy, it just gets better from here.
Thanks to all our followers who generously donate funding, we can help dogs like Teddy. The ones that have been tossed aside or brought to the shelter because the owners can't take care of them any longer, or the ones that simply just fall through the cracks are the ones we especially try to help. Yes, their vet bills run high, yes they're hard to get adopted, but we've had many people see the love in an older dog and they do adopt them. We know our followers see the worth of an older dog, or a dog with illness that needs help. These are the ones that need us the most. Welcome to the rest of your life Teddy! We got you from here. 🫧💞🐾🐾💞🫧

I give my heartfelt thanks and blessings to all those amazing people who have helped our little rescue save many lives. Every little thing adds up to saving lives. We thank the drivers of transports, adopters, donors, and foster parents. We thank those who spread the word of dogs who are available to adopt or those in need of a sanctuary or hospice home.
We thank the veterinarians and veterinary nurses for helping us heal these broken dogs and get them ready for their forever homes.
Thank you all,
Becky Roeckers, Founder

A very sad update: We are heartbroken. This morning, King, has been helped to the Bridge. Last night, the front leg that was so frail snapped. Is Foster mama kept him comfortable and this morning our wonderful veterinarian, Dr. Myers, worked him in for an exam. Upon arriving at the vet, it was noted his tongue was almost purple and his gums are white, and though we didn't X-ray his leg, it is very likely it was a fracture. We did not take the time to do diagnostics. It was clear too everyone he was suffering and there was nothing we could do to relieve his broken body. Between his heart being in failure, his leg, the tumor in his ear, and the very high possibility that his body was full of cancer as well, led us to the only one humane decision could make. King is now released from his pain. He had a night in a home. He laid in the sunshine in the afternoon, he had his foster dogs and cats around him, And he slept in the bed with his foster mama. He knew love at the end. Sometimes, rescue doesn't have the outcome we hope for, but there is love to be found in whatever outcome happens.
💞🐾KING🐾💞🫧🫧🫧🫧

Welcome this sweetie to the MPMR family. We were asked by a shelter if we could help him. He has a large tumor in his ear, a very damaged front leg that may be broken, a very severe heart condition and a skin infection. That's just the beginning of the list. 😞 He will be in one of our Sanctuary Hospice homes for as long as he is comfortable.
Once he has a Name, we will update. For now, he is Safe.
Donations will be needed for his care if you would like to help.

Don't be afraid to adopt an older pet. I can guarantee you they have just as much or more love to give than you can imagine. I know they might not be with you as long as you like, but the days they are with you will be truly a miracle for you both.
