Beef would like to register a complaint.

So, he's moved out from under the neighbor's house and has taken up residence in the yard at Jellicle Manor -
but in the front yard zone, he's all "stranger danger!" with the Matron and doesn't acknowledge that he knows her until it's mealtime at the community cat buffet.

So last night, the Matron was feeding the now-usual assemblage of Beef, Big Head Fred (who looks like he could be a reincarnation of Bob, except with ears) and Gorgeous George.

For the record, nonexistent humidity and winds caused what happened next:

Beef rubbed against the Matron's ankles as she served the wet food. She reached for him, finger outstretched to boop his snoot.

ZAP.

Beef recoiled in shock and fear.

"Holy moly did you see what she just did to me??" he exclaimed, with his eyes first widening in surprise, then narrowing in distrust.

Try as she might to apologize to Beef over second dinner, third dinner, and fourth dinner through the rest of the night, he wouldn't get close to her again.

Hopefully he will forget this assault soon.

Alley Cat Allies is a well known, well respected organization that is coordinating much of the field rescue operation in the burn areas.

They are someones who do something, and they are working very hard to
manage the chaos and locate and
help cats in the burned neighborhoods.

here's another org impacted by the fires

Wednesday morning at 3am in Altadena, Sharon was forced to evacuate her home with her dogs and the Cat Posse cats that have been rescued by her over the years – cats that are seniors, have extreme medical needs, aren’t fully socialized around humans, younger cats, the list goes on.

Sharon and her sister took the animals in the short period of time they were given to get out and find safety – which thankfully they were able to secure. Sharon is still in shock and does not know how she will emotionally or financially recover from this and as her volunteers we are trying to get her back on her feet. She is an incredible leader and cat lover that keeps our organization going with her compassion for animals and for the people around her. As volunteers we are heartbroken for her and are putting out a message for help.

True Hero ❤️🐾💪🙌🙏 Heroic woman rescues 41 pets from the wildfires.

Dr. Annie Harvilicz, a veterinarian, bravely risked her life to help rescue dogs, cats and a rabbit from the path of the Pacific Palisades fire as their owners were forced to flee.

The animal lover has opened her home and an empty pet hospital because their owners simply don’t have the space or resources to bring the pets with them. She also rescued 4 dogs near LAX airport and has taken them into her home.

Kitty Bungalow is already mobilizing to help in Los Angeles.

Here is how they are helping, and what you can do to support.

We all know the last few days have been unlike anything we have seen due to the severity and loss of the fires. We cannot thank the countless first responders and good samaritans on the ground for working tirelessly to try and contain these fires.

Everyone in Los Angeles is affected, and we realize that some of you may have experienced unimaginable loss. Know that we are here for you.

🐱 Over the past few days, our team has been in touch with our local shelter partners to see how we can best help. We are currently intaking cats and kittens from multiple LA city shelters over the next few weeks to make room for displaced and injured animals that come in from the fire zones.

🐱 We are also doing a donation drive here at the Bungalow to help those families who have had to evacuate with their pets. Our partners at PETCO West Hollywood and PETCO Westwood will also receive donations. Cat and dog food, carriers, leashes, blankets, toys, and beds are needed.

As the LA wildfires rage on, and new ones keep popping up all over Los Angeles, our thoughts are with our LA rescue friends who have been impacted by the fires.

Jellicle Manor is in Long Beach, over 20 miles south of the nearest fire, so the Matron and the animals are safe, though on highly caffeinated alert as we keep getting false evacuation alerts from the LA alert system. 😱

So while we are fine, many other rescues are not.

Today we will be focusing on sharing posts from rescues that have been impacted, some who have lost everything but their lives, and other, bigger rescues who will be helping to coordinate efforts to help the communities who are hurting right now.
