It was one year ago that I walked in to the cattery and found a surprise that would bring panleuk into my home and my rescue and manifested my greatest fear in all of my years of rescuing cats.

I didn't lose anyone, thanks to Claudia from the little lion foundation helping me with the protocols to overcome the virus.

However, as terrifying as the ordeal was, little Holly, aka Patient Zero, made a full recovery.

And then, she got adopted. Her new name is Masala. As you can see by her current photo, she is thriving in her new home and is spoiled like the princess that she is.

We never did get to tell you the story of Newt!

One year ago today, I was on a very rare and much deserved evening out, having dinner with a friend, when I got a phone call.

My friend Sandra had stopped by the Manor to pick up some kitty food from my back porch - and found something when she pulled into my driveway:

"Someone left a carrier on your trash can in your driveway!" she exclaimed. "There's an adult cat crammed into a kitten carrier!"

I gave her instructions on where to leave the carrier inside my cattery.

"I'm sorry," I told my friend, "duty calls." and we finished up and left.

When I got home, got an ISO kennel ready and got him settled - he was the sweetest cat. I love orangelings.

Our panleuk outbreak happened days later, and he showed symptoms - so I treated him and he bounced back quickly and soon made his way into the adoption center.

He was adopted fairly quickly (for a Jellicle Cat anyway, MOL) and his momma sends me photos and shows me how spoiled and loved he is. 💜

This Sunday will be our final day at the adoption center in the long beach towne center Petsmart!

It's been a good run, and we have had lots of you adopt from us and The Cat Cove at that center over the years.

We are clearing out so that Petsmart can host LA Animal Services cats in the adoption center. As you know, LAAS has had a really tough time lately, and this will help LAAS and Petsmart Charities to save infinitely more lives.

We will miss seeing the familiar faces every time we are in the store, as many of you stop by to say hello and to visit with the cats.

We will begin doing weekend adoptions after the start of the new year; days and locations TBA.

If you have enjoyed visiting with Tux, Spazzy and Shy Ronnie, and Willow and Olive in the store, this weekend will be your last chance to see them until we commence weekend adoption events at another site 💜

Stop by and say hello - or, rather, goodbye - this weekend!

Friends, we need your help again!

While the Matron is still interviewing for a new rocket factory to report to, we are rapidly approaching the anniversary date of when the panleuk outbreak happened here at the Manor - and that means it's time for all of the cats in the rescue to get their annual vaccinations!

We simply don't have the funds to cover.
