Anyone in the greater Los Angeles area that wants to learn more about fostering, we are here for it!! ♥️
Who wants to GIVE BACK and be of service?
Do you live in the general Los Angeles area?
Have you been thinking about how you can support animal rescue?
Camp Cocker Rescue is looking to welcome new foster home volunteers! Fostering is NOT easy, it is inconvenient, you have to potty train and work on other issues to help prepare a dog for adoption. Fostering requires a great deal of patience and flexibility on your part.
Foster home volunteers do it for the love of giving back to the dogs we rescue. This is a no-strings-attached one way gift of your time to the dogs you will be fostering.
People often say "oh I could never foster, I will get attached". If you can reframe your perspective and instead view it as "I am dog sitting for a friend's dog, I cannot keep this dog, it will get adopted and has a future forever home".
You will be of service, being part of that dog's rescue journey to help prepare the dog for adoption. Sure, you will be sad when the day comes and the dog gets adopted. But guess what? There will be another dog needing your nice foster home and you can start all over again, to change the life of another homeless dog!
Status of Camp Cocker dogs looking for foster homes as of right now.
We have four dogs with Rover sitters (we pay about the same per day, per dog as we would if the dogs were in a boarding facility).
Those dogs are:
Bagel - he had orthopedic surgery on his fractured leg on 12/22/22. He is doing well now, will need eight week post op x-rays at the end of February and needs to get neutered at that time. Bagel was rescued from the Riverside, CA animal shelter. Bagel might actually be mostly potty trained - what a surprise bonus that is!
Coco - one of the puppy mill dogs from South Korea. She is struggling to get the hang of potty training (most of our South Korea dogs struggle with learning to go on grass, and either prefer to potty on cement or potty indoors). Coco needs to get a dental at some point, not urgent. Depending on where she ends up finding a foster home or finds an adopter, we will sponsor her dental.
Bonnie - also one of the puppy mill dogs. She was in a foster home and is losing it tomorrow (her foster parents experienced changing work schedules and can no longer foster her). Bonnie also struggles with potty training. She had a dental last month with several extractions. Tomorrow she is getting an oral fistula repair surgery (to close up the area where one of her extractions was). She is also getting a half of a mastectomy tomorrow. She is going to be going to a Rover sitter tomorrow, until a foster home can be found.
Mary - also one of the puppy mill dogs. Mary is getting adopted on February 20th (so this is a short term foster home need). Mary has one remaining tooth that needs to be extracted and we are trying to get her scheduled for that extraction. Also struggling with potty training.
Minnie and Mabel - two three to four month old mixed breed puppies that we committed to in December. They were rescued by some good samaritans. They are not potty trained and do not know how to walk on a leash. We are taking Minnie and Mabel into Camp Cocker on Saturday. As of right now, we have no foster homes for either one.
Ideally, we would like to find a foster home for each one so we can split them up asap. Littermate syndrome is a real concern and they are at that age where if they remain together, it is going to affect their confidence building. They are very timid and shy dogs, but people and dog friendly. They both need to get spayed as well.
If you want to share about these dogs on your own social media, please refer anyone interested in becoming a foster home volunteer to read the foster home process at:

In general, it is easier for us to have our foster homes be somewhat local to the Los Angeles region.
All of these dogs are also available for adoption (except for Mary, who has adopters committed to her already). Adopters do not necessarily need to be in the Los Angeles area. Serious adoption inquires please be sure to read the adoption process at:

Thank you for spreading the word!
