Our Gordon Setters are an integral part of our family here with us on our small holding as well as e He has been to Crufts twice as I write this.
Here is a short history of Mark, Jill and our love of Gordon Setters. Geech and Aili are our first Gordon Setters, although Mark grew up with Irish and Red and White Irish Setters and meet his first Gordon when his Aunt had one in the borders of Scotland, that's when he fell in love with this breed. Jill on the other hand was scared stiff of dogs until, with the help of a couple of Red and White I
rish Setters, a group of 6 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Kara a Gordon Setter she grew to understand the unconditional love that dogs give and she grew in confidence around dogs. When we moved to Scotland in 2013 we had already decided on a Gordon and had only been in our new home two weeks before collecting Geech aka Mosscript Balmenach at Gailiech. Jill went from strength to strength around dogs thanks to Geech, she started to go to classes and even started to show him with some success. We decided to get a second and were fortunate to be able to have a puppy from a very experienced breeder, partly due to a fortuitous conversation whilst Jill was showing Geech. In 2015 we got Aili aka Dunfionn Sanda for Gailiech JW, Geech and Aili were best of friends immediately. Aili has gone on to do very well in the show ring, winning Puppy Bitch at Crufts 2016 and then going onto achieve her Junior Warrant award. In 2016 we decided that we wanted to breed these wonderful dogs in the future and so founded Gailiech Gordon Setters. We would not be without our dogs now, they are very much part of our family, living and enjoying our smallholding they have access to all parts and can just be dogs enjoying the space and quite often the mud.....
We are members of both the Kennel Club and SSPCA Assured Breeders Schemes.

Dear Water Litter,
This is our last night all together. Tomorrow you are 8 weeks old and will start going to your new homes. We have got the best homes ever for you. All your new families are so excited. You are going to be so loved and have so much fun.
But always remember and make sure your new families do too. You will always be part of the Gailiech family, Mark, me and the gang will always be here for you. If you need anything you call and we will always help.
We were with you when you took your first breath, first time you could hear, first time you saw, your first steps… we have been with you constantly 24 hours a day for the past 8 weeks.
We are so proud of the puppies you have become. You all love life, you have taken all new challenges in your stride and you are all so confident
We have tried to give you the best start to your life, I know tomorrow will be scary.. but remember everything you have done and let your new families love you and you love them with all your heart. You need to leave us now as we can’t give you what you need now.. you need to go out and explore the world and have so much fun

So it is time to say thank you to everyone that has helped out with the water litter. We couldn’t have done it without you. My mum for looking after Freyja for the first 10 days when pups were born and she was height of season, Rhona for her mentoring and support and for looking after the puppies when 2 weeks of age so we could go to the P!NK concert, Faye, Yvonne and Ailsa for puppy sitting for us. We cannot say thank you enough 🤎🖤🤎🖤

❤️ Not all life savers wear capes…..❤️
Super proud of our Freyja.. Freyja is retired from Pet Blood Bank UK as she just got too stressed
However, our vets called as they had an emergency…. Magni had been an emergency donor 6 weeks ago so couldn’t do it, Niamh on maternity duty… So Freyja put up her paw and volunteered to go down as she is such a kind, caring and thoughtful girl. She needed some sedation but had amazing care at Clyde Vet Group Small Animal Hospital and lots of gravey bones afterwards
We at Gailiech Gordon Setters hope the puppy survives and send massive hugs to the puppy and the owners 🖤🤎
