Lita's Rescues This page is setup to avoid bull breeds going to SPCA and pounds that follow Breed Specific Legislation protocol. As a vet nurse, I am strongly against BSL

This page intends to be used to link those who find lost and stray animals, with local charities that rescue so we can avoid SPCA and dog pound. Any and all animals can be helped, from the smallest to large farm animals. If you have ever considered fostering I will provide links to your local charities to apply too. Without foster homes and donations, we can't save half as many lives. There are ma

ny things within your community you can do to help that doesn't involve money or fostering if you can't do that. Such as delivering flyers, helping out at market stalls to raise money and awareness. Dog walking and cuddles of dogs needing attention. Transport of animals, and help sharing photos and spreading the word of animals in need. I personally have more then 17 years experience in animal rescue and Vet Nursing. I have hand reared (bottle fed) many litters of kittens and puppies over the years. Links to charities will added as soon as permission to do so has been given.

I now have 23 rescue chicks and one rescue mum!
Black chooks is mine she was broody so I gave her some of the babies.
Thankfully seem to have homes lined up for them all already but they will be with me for the next couple months at least to grow them big and strong first.

Baby survived the night!
My brooder has taken to it well.
I only had to put her back under her once during the night around midnight when the baby chick wandered out but it was too dark to find its way back.
I have yet to see it eat or drink so hopefully that happens today.
My hen is talking to the baby and the baby responds which is good.
Not out of the woods yet though.

I heard this baby chick screaming desperately this evening, so I put my shoes on and went for a walk to see if I could find it.
I found this tiny baby chick stuck in thick long grass it couldn't jump out of.
No other chicks. No mama.
It was cold and all alone.
I brought it home and luckily had two broody hens, so took eggs off one mama that the other hens stuff under her daily. And put the baby under her.
She took to it immediately.
Fingers crossed this tiny baby survives since it put the effort into screaming for help.

I've just sent a kennel for Goober and a trap to try get more of the stray cats and kittens, down to the East Coast.
It's a very long trip so they won't be there til late afternoon/early evening.

Goober is allowed inside her new family's home. Just sometimes when she wants to be outside, there is very little shelter there.

This rooster that free ranges where we live (owned by our landlord)
Is once again not looking well.
So I've grabbed him and feeding him up on good stuff.
I've named him Mickey 🤣
He likes to hang out with Iggy who ended up taking months to fully heal from her injury that we believe now was inflicted by a stoat.
He will be released in a week.
And I will leave a feeding station out for him and Iggy to make sure they are getting nutritients they need to keep them well.

Precious little Goober is now on her 7 hour trip home to her forever family!

Speyed, deflead, wormed, stitches out and on milk stop since her b***y monsters were still breastfeeding a lot at 9 weeks old.

She just purrs and purrs. Meows for attention and then purrs and cuddles some more.

Such a pleasure to help this precious little lady.

Life is always busy so I forgot to post last week.
The kittens were moved from the foster to Waihi town cats last Saturday 😍
We are so grateful for their help to make room for the feral kittens if we can get them.
Goober goes to her forever home on Thursday.

Miss Goober was speyed yesterday.

At roughly 9mths old and two litters of kittens already, it was certainly time for this little lady.

Her second litter are 9 weeks old this Friday and will be moved on to Waihi Town Cats rescue to make room for some feral kittens if they are able to be trapped.

The new year has barely begun but rescue work never ends.

Still looking for their forever families 😍

Tui (black male)
Very playful. Often just sits and stares intently at us. Such a sweetheart. Loves cuddles. Plays most with his brother.

Tiger (male tabby with black collar)
Super playful. Always carrying stuff around in his mouth. Throws it around and happily plays by himself or instigates wrestling with his siblings.
A real b***y monster this one. Always first at the milk bar and last to leave 🤣

Blue (female tabby pink collar)
Seeks people for snuggles more then anything. She purrs the most.
Often throws herself on her side and waves her paws around to get you to pat her. A little love bug.

Fostered in katikati currently

Please enquire via pm as I can't access my emails ATM.

If you are happy to help with their ongoing costs while in foster you can donate to
