This astounding, happy, mastiff mix girl is in need of a rescue or a new home. We were told that she had pups a few months back and the pups went off to a rescue. She came into the pound recently with a shepherd boy and they love to run races around the play yard together. The shepherd boy is not quite ready to leave the pound until he learns to walk on leash.
Now it is her time to shine and head off to new adventures of her very own.

Due to the recent loss experienced by MLC Animal Control, please direct all inquiries on this mastiff girl, via Direct Message (DM) only. Dearest dog loving community,
I'm lost, confused, terrified. This man is my rock, my best friend, the love of my life and my everything. This man who has been a best friend to so many talented K9 (even singing lullabies to a local k9) , lost/stray dogs and our training and boarding guests. Watching him suffer from cancer… it's unbearable. My family is clinging on by a thread. Send love. Please, just send love.

This distressing post has been consistently shared each year since 2019, and we unequivocally vow to persist in this endeavor until the tragic occurrence of dogs succumbing to the frigid temperatures is completely eradicated. If you think a plastic dog house with no insulation such as straw or blankets, is enough for your dog in this cold...If you think that the dog's house will keep a dog warm if the house is directly on the ground. Take a look.
This dog is dead, as are the pups she was carrying....she froze to death while inside her doghouse. This happened in NC. If your dog is kept outside, take a long hard look. Can you imagine the suffering this innocent creature endured?
My heart aches and yours should too.

There is a reason that the MN Statutes 343.40 say;
“The shelter shall include a moistureproof and windproof structure of
suitable size to accommodate the dog and allow retention of body heat. It shall be made of durable material
with a solid, moistureproof floor or a floor raised at least two inches from the ground. Between November
1 and March 31 the structure must have a windbreak at the entrance. The structure shall be provided with a
SUFFICIENT QUANTITY of suitable bedding material consisting of hay, straw, cedar shavings, blankets, or the
equivalent, to PROVIDE INSULATION AND PROTECTION against cold and dampness and promote retention of body
heat.”

Give your dogs insulation, straw, or heating pad to give them warmth or take them inside. No dog deserves this.

EDIT TO ADD: Please remember that all breeds handle the temps differently. Some double coated dogs that are conditioned to the cold-enjoy the frigid temps-but still require shelter to get out of the wind.Everyone needs to use common sense.

URGENT: Cat Food Recall Issued Following Feline Death. Cat food sold through distributors in MN.

"Portland, Oregon, Northwest Naturals is voluntarily recalling one batch of Northwest Naturals brand 2lb Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food after it was tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus.

Consumption of raw or uncooked pet food contaminated with HPAI can cause illness in animals. To date, one case of illness in a domestic cat has been reported in connection with this issue.

The recalled product is packaged in 2-pound plastic bags with “Best if used by” dates of 05/21/26 B10 and 06/23/2026 B1. The product was sold through distributors in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, MN, PA, RI and WA in the United States, and British Columbia in Canada."
