A wonderful day at the Appalachian Bantam club!
What a pleasant surprise today! I pulled my show string out of breeding pens this fall due to losing all my show birds in the chaos following the hurricane. No one is conditioned and I really don’t go expecting to place. Seeing chicken peers, and winning Res. Champion FL was a really nice day!
One of my show birds found a new home with a junior today too. I hope she can become a pro!

I found this kitten after lessons Monday on the road. She is in need of a home that can give her an abundance of love and attention. She’s dog, cat, and child friendly, very playful but also snuggly. If anyone is wanting to give a home for a kitten this holiday season please reach out.

Black mottled silkie pullet

This pullet is 4 months old. She has a walnut comb. 5 toes and nails per foot. She is young and still growing. Her wings are not perfect but all primaries and secondaries are currently present. I would consider them both slip. She has the sweetest personality and very tolerant of children handling her and would make a great kids bird!
The auction does have a reserve. It will start tonight(10/17/2024) and end Sunday 10/20/2024 at 6pm Eastern time.
Buyer is responsible for shipping cost. If you would like me to get you a quote just send a message with your zip code. She will ship the following Monday as long as temps are appropriate. We can try to find her a traveling companion. Or local pickup is available.
Bids start at $75 and go up in increments of $5 or $10.

These funds will go towards my damaged breeding program impacted by Hurricane Helene and my feed cost.

I am back with power after 10 days.
I need suggestions. We left our home for a week, and came back daily to feed animals. My husband found two pullets dead that he believes were maliciously killed(different day than the missing juveniles)) and I didn’t want to believe him but now he said his motorcycle was also tampered with.
We don’t have power in the barns, I run cords and solar currently. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach that far. Does anyone have small trail camera or surveillance camera suggestions that can either run battery or solar?

I’ve lost everything in my brooders and incubator. Please don’t expect to purchase anything this fall from me, as I quite literally have nothing to grow out. If I have something available, claim it quick as it may be the last.
Praying for all who are affected by this hurricane. Luckily all my adults are good, but I know many have lost their entire flock and program.

Please say a prayer for the local non profit I work for. Fences down, horses hurt and missing, chicken coops destroyed and birds dead. Equipment ruined.
The non profit serves neurodivergent children and adults through equine therapy. We run a 4h program which allows children who cannot own birds to show them.
Please consider donating to a small non profit in the midst of this mess if you can.
