He is roughly a year old Akita Mix weighing in at 48.8 pounds. All puppy that loves to chew and play. Car rides are a favorite past time. has a beautiful double coat (like a husky) and loves being outside, especially in cooler weather.

Dirt knows "sit", "stay", "load up", "hug", "breakfast", "no" and "leave it".
Is fine with cats as long as they don't run from him. Has been good with other dogs. I would suggest other dogs his size, as he is all puppy and very active!

He would do well in a home with a human running or hiking partner. He is very protective of his people. Loves women. Mostly house broken.

It was a super busy Monday. They called at 5:06 to say they were just fixing to start surgery. 🤞🏽🥰
I'll know more when I call to check in after lunch. I'll keep you all updated!

When we started this rescue, our mission was to help the abused, neglected and discarded dogs in our city and beyond. As well as promote Spay and Neuter, educate the public and help people with ways to KEEP their dog(s).

Our mission has never been to relieve you of you of the commitment YOU made to your dog when you took them in.

People have babies and keep their dogs.
(I had a baby and never got rid of one of the 18 dogs I had)

People change careers and keep their dogs.
I've changed jobs at least 7 times in the past 20 years I've ran a rescue, and never once got rid of any of them due to work)

Peoples schedules get hectic and they keep their dogs.
(I work 3, 12 hour days and still manage to take care of our dogs)

People move and find a way to keep their dog.
(I've moved twice since I started this rescue in 2014. Once with 18 dogs and 3 cats and a second time with 24 dogs, 8 cats, 8 goats and 60 chickens)

People run into issues with manageable/trainable behavior AND THEY KEEP THEIR DOGS.
(Most of our dogs are complete asshats)

These situations are not unique.

We didn't start this rescue to bail you out. I'm sorry, I know that may sound harsh-- and yes, we know that there are absolutely situations in which people can truly no longer care for their dog- and we help with those as much as we can.

But for the love of Dog-- step up for your dog. Show up for your dog. Show your dog the same love and commitment today that you showed them the day you brought them home.

Dogs are being euthanized here, in shelters every single day because the shelter does not have space. FRIENDLY. HEALTHY. HAPPY. ADOPTABLE. DOGS.

Your dog is no different than any of the dogs that have been losing their lives every day and if you give up on your dog-- they could be next.

Frederick Douglass Moorefield Jr. operated under the kennel name "Geehad Kennels" and used his home to keep and train dogs to fight.

He got his Christmas Miracle! He just needs a name! I visited with him a little bit tonight and he is very sweet.
He has surgery scheduled for Monday Morning.

came to us last week after being on the run for over a week.
He is such a sweet boy. He is young and full of love. He gets along great with cats and other dogs. He will be neutered 12/19/24 and would love to have a home for Christmas.

Often, I see people giving away dogs immediately after finding them. Did you know thats illegal?
Texas has a 3 day hold, regardless if it's a citizen, shelter or rescue. An attempt HAS to be made during those days to reunite the lost animal with their owner.

did well. Doc doesn't know why her eye is full of blood, but she got eye drops and chicken strips from Sonic and we'll see what happens. 🥰

He will be taken to Brown County Vet Monday morning for surgery! He needs a name!

This is the baby that needs his Leg amputated. I have to call and talk to Joe Speck in the AM to confirm, but their quote is $500....

If we can raise the funds by Monday, we can get this little guy feeling SO much better.
