From Chaos to Calm 🐾
If walking your dog feels like a constant tug-of-war, you're not alone! This pup has lots of energy and couldn’t walk on a leash without pulling his owner.
With consistent training, patience, and positive reinforcement, he’s now a perfect gentleman on walks. With the right guidance, you too can teach your dog to walk calmly and confidently on a leash.

We get it.
Your dog is so irresistibly cute that you’re constantly fielding unwanted petting from strangers.
There are many reasons why a dog may not want to be pet, and there are many ways to communicate a “no, thank you”.
You can use our snarky response above, or try these alternatives:
1️⃣ “Thanks for asking, but we’re working on training right now!”
2️⃣ “I appreciate your interest, but she’s a little nervous around strangers.”
3️⃣ “Not today, sorry! He’s practicing staying focused.”
Advocating for your pup doesn’t make you rude—it makes you a responsible owner. Asking permission is always the right first step when meeting someone else’s dog. Let’s create positive experiences for dogs and humans alike! 🐕❤️

Let’s talk pee pads: Are they helpful or holding your pup back in potty training?
While pee pads might seem convenient, they can confuse your dog about where it’s okay to go potty. Instead of heading outside, your pup might think anywhere soft and flat (hello, rugs and carpets!) is fair game.
If you’re potty training, focus on consistency and trips outside.

Meeting a new dog? Your approach makes all the difference! 🐾
1️⃣ Stay Calm & Give Space: Let the dog come to you first. Rushing can make them feel threatened.
2️⃣ Offer Your Hand Slowly: Let them sniff before you pet, and avoid sudden movements.
3️⃣ Skip Head Pats: Reaching over a dog's head can feel scary to them and may lead to defensive reactions. Instead, gently pet under their chin, the side of their face, or along the side of their body.
4️⃣ Read Their Body Language: Signs like stiff posture or backing away mean it’s time to give more space.
Approaching a dog the wrong way can make a dog feel unsafe and could lead to a nip or bite. Keep these tips in mind to have a successful interaction with a new dog!

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? 🐕✨ No matter their age, every dog is capable of learning and growing.
In fact, in some ways, older dogs can be easier to train because they can focus for longer periods of time and are less easily distracted.
Meet Frank, a German Shepard who relocated all the way from South America and is now adjusting to life in south Florida. He’s doing a great job in our program so far. It's never too late for a fresh start! 🐾

Dog parks? For us that’s a hard no. 🚫🙅
🐾 While they seem fun, dog parks create unpredictable environments that may lead to bad habits or even dangerous situations. Without controlled interactions, dogs can experience heightened anxiety, overstimulation, or develop unwanted behaviors like aggression.
Here at ORA we focus on structured socialization in safe, supervised settings that build confidence and proper manners. Your dog's safety and well-being come first! Skip the dog park! 🐶

Thinking about spaying or neutering your pup? 🐾 Wait at least 15 months and even up to 2 years depending on the breed.
It’s important to give your dog the time to fully mature as their hormones play a key role in physical development, and can affect things like bone growth, muscle mass, cancer risk, and even weight gain. Allowing your dog to reach full maturity can support a healthier, stronger adult pup in the future.
