Facebook says they make changes to make it better. All that is happening is making it easier for scammers, cloning of accounts more threats from scammers pretending to be “META”. All they are doing is causing more problems with our pages. If we have a problem and want others to be able to give input they block photos. All these men that try to friend you with fake pictures. It’s getting to be a little too much. My kennel page was taken over I got a picture of who took it over but I can’t even change the page name back as FB won’t allow that.
The Lady in this picture is a well known Dachshund Breeder but someone has stolen her pictures and the name at the bottom is not the lady in the picture.
FB needs to do something soon people are annoyed with this.

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXPERIENCED

Many of the most successful breeders began with a dog that was bought primarily as a pet. For a variety of reasons they dipped a toe into the water of dog showing. Their experiences during those early days were crucial and either persuaded them that this is a hobby with which they could become involved and enjoy, or they decide it’s not for them.

Pivotal to their decision are the people they encounter at their first training classes, dog matches or shows but seldom do the more experienced exhibitors realize how they can influence others.
Newcomers - who are potentially exhibitors and breeders of the future - should be welcomed with open arms and encouraged, having the basic principles of showing and judging explained to them simply.

Their first dog may be of indifferent quality but sometimes can be a “diamond in the rough” that just needs skillful handling and presentation to do some useful winning.

Breeders of the newcomer’s own breed have a responsibility to explain, with tact and care, their dog’s virtues (and they all have some virtues) in the context of the Breed Standard whilst diplomatically explaining its shortcomings. It is important that newcomers do not see their geese as swans but similarly they should not be given false hope.

Newcomers who are enthusiastic and intelligent will listen to the more experienced and decide how they wish to progress. They may choose to struggle with their original companion and try to upgrade through breeding (if they have been lucky enough to find a worthy mentor) or decide it’s best to retire that dog to the fireside and look for a more realistic foundation with potential.

It is essential that their first meeting with “dog people” does not leave them with the impression of an elitist antisocial group of people who have no time for novices. They need to feel welcome and encouraged.

We were all novices once, but some seem to forget that and, through a lack of consideration, their behavior may well be instrumental in losing to the sport breeders of the future that we so desperately need.

3-year-old ELIJAH VUE disappeared from Two Rivers, Wisconsin on February 20, 2024.
Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, had sent him to stay with her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, at his apartment.
Elijah’s father is in prison, and it’s said that Baur sent him to stay with her boyfriend so that he could teach the toddler “how to be a man.”
Vang says that on that February day, with temperatures near zero, Elijah simply disappeared from the apartment while he was taking a nap. Vang said that he must have just walked out the door.
No surveillance cameras in the area show any sign of him.
Sadly, almost one month later little Elijah’s blanket, the one he is pictured with at right, was found in a rural area about 4 miles from Vang’s apartment.
Elijah remains missing.
Both Baur and Vang are being held without bond on charges of chronic child neglect of both Elijah and his 6-year-old sister.
We hope that you will share Elijah’s story so that this precious little one won’t be forgotten.

Dachshunds under threat as Germany proposes ban on breeding

Germany’s beloved sausage dog, the dachshund, could be under threat in the country, its national kennel club said Wednesday, citing a new draft law that looks to prohibit the breeding of dogs with “skeletal anomalies.”

The draft bill, published in February and currently being considered by the authorities, was introduced as part of the Animal Protection Act, which seeks to strengthen existing laws on so-called “torture breeding,” the German government said.

The document said it could ban the reproduction of breeds prone to particular problems, such as the frequent spinal issues seen in dogs with short legs and a long back.
