Meet our newest OBHR member Tommy! Tommy is a 5 year old basset shar pei mix and will require a home with a fence. His adoption fee is $250 and he is being fostered near Cincinnati.
Can you resist this freckle faced fur baby? Not a chance. Especially after you meet this handsome dude!
Tommy was placed with us due to no fault of his own. His family got him as a puppy 5 years ago but it turns out their youngest child is severely allergic. They spent months trying different treatments for her with no success. They were heartbroken to make the decision to surrender and when he was picked up, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Tommy is 5 years old and was cared for on a phenomenal level. He is great with kids of all ages, dogs and even passed meeting cats for the first time with his foster with no incident. However, he is a bunny annihilator because though he has never tasted one, he heard they taste like chicken. The 2 older children had no problems walking this sweet boy on leash walks and he loves car rides and toys.
Tommy is a family dog and will do best in a home with kids and is used to a busy schedule. Tommy was crated only as a puppy, is not destructive and does not go potty in the house. His amber eyes and happy disposition will have you inviting him onto the couch in no time flat. If you think Tommy could be the perfect match to complete your family, adopt him! Single and ready to mingle is Ms Betty Boop! Betty is 5-6 year old bloodhound who had a rough start to life being a breeder but she is now healthy and ready for her retirement home! She will need a fenced in yard and no small kids. She needs someone willing to take their time introducing her to any other dogs in the house. She is a big girl so needs some space! It's that time of year again! It sounds early but we need to start planning for our August event and BASSETFEST! Gift cards are the easiest to ask for and add to a smaller basket to make it more appealing! We would also love any other items you would like to donate to raffle off at Bassetfest! We can try to arrange pick up or Message us if you would like to mail some items and we will give your our personal address so you can use FedEx or Ups or order online and mail direct to us! Same with gift cards or mail them to our PO Box! It's on our website if need be! OBHR PO Box 413, Brookville OH 45309! Remember if you buy them at Kroger in Dayton, Cincy or Cbus set your Kroger card (must do online not the app) to donate to OBHR for their community rewards program!

Our sweet girl Tuffy is just a week away from her spay and dental and then she will be ready for a FOREVER HOME! Her spay is July 2.

Tuffy is about 7 years old, we don't know for sure. If you would like more details on Tuffy please visit our website and pull up her profile! Basically she came to us in very bad shape and has been recovering from Heartworm. She is now HW free and ready to have her spay!

Tuffy is a sweet girl who doesn't know a stranger. She is definitely a couch potato and will join you on the couch to binge your favorite show! She loves to go for walks but is by no means a speed demon and loves to stop and sniff! She is now house trained also!

Tuffy is not a destructive girl, she is very gentle. Two key points is Tuffy is NOT good with cats or crates. Ideally she could use a home with someone older possibly retired so she doesn't have a lot of alone time. Tuffy is good with other dogs! Tuffys adoption fee is $200 and she is in the Columbus area. Meet Lil! This lil lady is an adorable small 2-3 year old hound mix looking for a forever home! She looks to be predominantly beagle but has a longer body so the vet thinks she may have some basset in her. Lil came to us as a stray from a local shelter so we don't know her background. She has been in foster for about a week and hasn't had any accidents so she appears house trained. She is in a foster with both smaller and larger dogs and is doing fine. She has not been cat tested but she is a bit timid at first so she should be ok with a dog savy cat! She will snuggle once she warms up to you and is already sleeping with her foster mom at night! She will need a home with a fenced in yard. Lil is being fostered in Columbus and she is up to date and spayed. She is about 25 pounds. Her adoption fee is $250. ADOPTED!!
Auggie is a 4-5 year old 58lb hunk of a basset that is as sweet as he is handsome. He loves people and will be your shadow/velcro dog. He gets along with all dogs and usually cats, but will bark at them occasionally. He is housetrained and doggy door trained and loves toys and bones. He will even fetch a ball for you! He is content to sleep the day away, but likes to play a bit too & walks well on a leash. Auggie was left alone alot in his past situation & would love a family who can spend time with him. He is a big sturdy boy and does jump to greet you sometimes so will need someone who is ok with that or can work with him to change that behavior. Besides that he is a total angel and will be a great addition for the right basset lover.
Auggie needs to home with a fenced in yard and will be available for adoption after his neuter on June 27. He is being fostered in Michigan not far from Toledo. We want to take a moment to thank also everyone who voted for Cody in the calendar contest! He got enough votes to make a month of our 2025 calendar. Poor Cody for those of you who don't know came to us from a shelter. He had a bad cough that postponed his neuter. Unfortunately it turned out to be a bad bacteria infection that rapidly worsened and we had to make the hard decision to send him to the Rainbow Bridge. He was very much loved by his foster mom Kelle but never found his forever home. Thank you all for voting, donating, and giving this boy a month next year to keep his memory alive!

Thank you all so much for another successful year with our calendar contest! We were a bit short of last year but we still made goal and raised $11,608!!! That is fantastic!!! Congratulations to all and especially to Kim and Larry and their calendar girl POPPY! Poppy will grace the cover of next year's OBHR calendar just like her predecessor Redford did years ago! We are so blessed to have the following we do and we cannot do what we do to help these hounds without all of YOU! I will be reaching out to the winners over the next few days to get everything lined up to go to print and we will have a link on the website soon to begin calendar pre-orders!!!
