📣 Rottie Rescue friends 📣

Archie is looking for you!

Last week you met our sweet new friend Archibald. This ginormous guy had a terrifying run in with an animal control agency and came out with some taser probes in him 🥺

We spent the first few days giving Archie, lots of room and lots of snacks. Our goal was to teach him that humans are good and he doesn’t have to be scared. It wasn’t too soon after he came to us that Archie started showing his silly side.

Let us tell you about our best friend!

Welp, 2025 has had us on our toes.

We are 5️⃣0️⃣ days into the new year, and so far we’ve brought 4️⃣0️⃣ dogs into our care. The cruelty, neglect and freezing temps have animal welfare volunteers running non stop to save lives. And there is no end in sight.

Today while we were waiting for one survivor to come back from emergency, we got a call from our friends at The Karens as they were heading to a home where there were 5️⃣ puppies in rough shape. So far, placement had not been found (everyone is full). As we know, collaboration saves lives, so we said bring them in and we’ll figure it out together.

Their coats were stained with urine and f***s. They smelled horrific and had huge wormy potbellies. They were (and still are) absolutely terrified.

These puppies were said to be 12 weeks, however that is extremely hard to believe. They were severely malnourished - emaciated, lethargic, dehydrated, and so hungry. One dog is less than 4lbs. That is unimaginable. There are musculoskeletal concerns due to the lack of nutrition.

Our new puppy friends got vaccinated, dewormed, have been provided warmth and are being given small meals as to not shock their systems. An amazing volunteer took the tiny 3 lb babe home to provide care overnight to ensure he had help as he was struggling hard.

Tomorrow all 5 will be heading to our friends at Peace Love and Paws Rescue.

❤️‍🩹Elsa + Stella Update❤️‍🩹

Our sweet, sweet darlings have had quite an eventful 24 hours! Elsa (not pictured) had a severe injury to her left lower mandible with bone exposure, abscesses, and broken/missing teeth. She had surgery late last night and we are absolutely thrilled that she did not need further jaw amputation. Our team is keeping her safe and calm so that she may focus on eating some soft food and taking her medications to combat intense pain and severe infection.

Stella (pictured), could really use everything good you’ve got to throw at her 🙏 This sweet girl had old fractures to her left forelimb and pockets of old trauma, which combined with recent bite wounds has created a very painful and angry infection. Stella is receiving a leg amputation as we speak, and we are praying for only good news from here on out!

As always, 🙏thank you🙏 for loving the victim dogs we serve as much as we do. These dogs are the definition of ‘getting dealt a terrible hand at life’. Likely born and raised in bloodsport, found alone and emaciated roaming the streets of Detroit, and are now confused, painful and trying to navigate an entirely different world than they had known. Albeit, a kinder one.

We would be remiss to post these sweet girls without giving the biggest thank you to the incredible human that did not ignore them when she saw them. That brought them both to safety in her home, provided them medical care, and tried like hell to find them rescue placement. We are so thankful for you 💕

🙏 Please help us help our two new girlie besties, Elsa and Stella!🙏

These girls have been THROUGH it - both have severe injuries and are headed to emergency as we speak.

Here’s what we know - they were found severely malnourished in Delray in November. They appear to be American Pit Bull Terriers, and APBTs in this area are commonly utilized for bloodsport. An incredible citizen welcomed them into their home in hopes that a rescue would step up, which did not happen. Tragically, after months of being co-housed and being best of friends, they had a very severe altercation over resources, and both girls are incredibly injured. Stella has a very large abscess and extensive bite trauma, and Elsa has lower jaw trauma that we are praying can be somehow fixed.

This made the need for rescue placement SO much more urgent, and our hearts immediately broke for their finder and for them. So we said ‘yes’.

We are realistic. We understand the severity of this situation. We also have incredible empathy for two darling girls that were likely born with the odds stacked so high against them.

So, we are going to try. For them, their finder and hero, for our team, and for little APBTs everywhere who are forced to live such unfair lives.

🌟Welcome, Archibald!🌟

Yesterday morning Jenna was contacted regarding a rottie that was tased by Inkster Animal Control while responding to an aggressive dog call. We don’t know all the details of the situation, but we looked at the pictures and they were heartbreaking 💔 we saw the fear and confusion in his eyes, and we knew that P2 was the place for him.

Jenna, Christina and Lisa Rae put a plan in action and went and picked him up, brought him back to our shelter, sedated him, removed the probes, vaccinated, heartworm tested and clipped and cleaned his wounds. They also created a hands-free 5x15.

While Archibald has shown no signs of offensive aggression, out of precaution we are having very minimal people interact with him at this time. We know that his cortisol levels have to be spiked and between his experiences yesterday and then ending up in a shelter he needs some serious decompression time.

❣️In these instances, it’s better to be prepared with an abundance of caution and provide ONLY experiences that he perceives as positive - as now we have to ‘make up for’ a very traumatic experience.

Currently our goal is just to help him decompress, build, trust, and learn that people are kind. We have learned that the key to Archie‘s heart is hot dogs 🌭 We think and hope that he’s gonna be a pretty alright dude

We also believe he is likely owned, and we have posted on all of the lost and found dog pages. We are hoping for a reunion.

THANK YOU to our team for saying yes, leaving work, planning ahead, and taking every precaution to ensure that he was transferred into our care in the most humane manner. Please keep all comments, positive and send positive vibes towards Archie.

Is it possible to buy stock in peanut butter?
Asking for a friend... well, 30+ current P2 friends.

Our P2 residents are panicking. Every single morning they get a Nylabone with frozen peanut butter on it. Licking helps dogs regulate their stress levels and is a soothing act. Being in a shelter, dogs need all the enrichment to help keep them in the best mental shape possible.

Peanut butter is on our Amazon wishlist (in the comments), however sometimes it is cheaper to purchase in a store. That's why we have several drop off locations throughout the area

Earlier today our hearts hurt seeing a post of a sweet babe curled up in a car seat for comfort and warmth.

Flash forward to this evening when we were contacted by The Karens to ask if we could welcome him into our program. Ummm … YES!

While he’s in his foster, Buford heard that his friends that are still at the shelter are in need of some supplies. He told them help is on the way!

CC, now Pickles is headed to his foster home!

Pickles was one of the young pups that we assisted Dog Aide with during the cold freeze.

Pickles is heading to one of our favorite foster homes where he’ll have two Bark Nation alumni foster siblings Lincoln and Lexi! We of course had to make a McDonalds stop on the way!

As this arctic freeze comes to a close (thank heavens), we have welcomed three more darlings from our friends at .2021 🤍

Please welcome Butter Burger (fka Kane - the Dobie), Whopper (the American Bully), and Smooch (the Cane Corso)! 😍

Butter Burger spent two days in emergency for severe emaciation and is on strict re-feeding … and he had solid p**p today 👏🏼 Both Whopper and Smooch were found roaming alone, and are absolutely sweet as pie 🥧

Thank you all SO much for supporting us during this high intake last week - over 20 dogs found safety and reprieve in our care after being subjected to sub-freezing temperatures. From frostbite, to wounds to heartworm to emaciation to abandonment and more - we’ve fallen in love time and time and time again ❤️

Let’s stick together and keep saving lives! 🙏👊🏼
