It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that my beloved Sequoia passed away today. On Saturday we took her to the vet after a collapse at the fields and found out that she had fluid on her heart and many tumors on her lungs. She worked and had a full life up until her collapse. In fact, she was on a two-day deployment to Palm Springs only a week ago. She was an amazing dog, that’s for sure. She was a therapy dog at CHOC at Mission for 8 ½ years, spreading smiles and easing heavy hearts. She was a HOPE crisis response dog for more than 5 years and loved her work. She has impacted thousands of people and for that I am so very grateful.
She was sent to me by my previous golden and was my sweet queen. My heart is broken, but I know it was her time and she left this world the way she occupied it, with grace, bravery, and dignity.
Her life wasn’t all work either. She loved to swim. She loved to chase birds, squirrels, and rabbits. No chance of catching them, but the chase was sure fun. She loved her ball. She loved hiking. She loved camping. But most of all she loved people. Not just her family and friends, but everyone she met. Thank you for being a part of her life. I appreciate each and every one of you.
Teton and I will carry on, but it won’t be the same. Goodbye sweet girlie girl…
