We offer a small service to people who live near the Ottawa area (Canada). We take in sick or unwanted bearded dragons and other desert lizards. We are trying to make the world a better place by educating owners on proper care of Bearded Dragons. We take in your beloved pet and find them a loving home by interviewing all potential adopters. So if you have a beardie that needs a new home, please visit our surrender page.
VBR started after I, Payton (the owner) adopted my first dragon named Viola at the age of 13. Once I started to learn even more about them I really wanted to do something that involved beardies. I was going to breed them, but after adopting a very sick male dragon named Meringue (R.I.P), I decided there were too many sick and homeless dragons in the world. Fast forward 4 years and I have rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed over 20+ lizards from my small home-based rescue.
Our future goals
VBR hopes to expand and rescue even more reptiles, expanding our expertise to not just beardies and similar lizards. We hope to be a go-to reptile resource in the Ottawa and surrounding area and be able to educate even more people about proper care. We hope to stop the many myths and incorrect caring practices recommended by large pet stores, brands and even books that cause the suffering of hundreds of reptiles in captivity.
