Brom Bones has very sensitive paws and isnât comfortable with them being handled. This can make nail trims a challenging feat! (Er⊠feet? Ha! I crack me up.) A scratch board allows us to keep his nails trimmed and tidy and it is completely cooperative. This is a great option while we work on building his comfort and willingness to have his paws handled.

This dog amazes me every day. Learning to walk with a cart is awkward and itâs hard work. His willingness to try and his ever present zest for life is such an inspiration.
Itâs been one week since Diego had a stroke. Heâs recovered beautifully, heâs regained much of his strength, heâs bright, alert, and happy to be alive to enjoy sunny summer afternoons. While I know our time together is limited, Iâm so grateful to be able to have my best friend by my side for a little longer. Diego, you are pure magic. â€ïž

Diego had a stroke yesterday. It took him several hours to regain responsiveness, and a bit longer to be able to stand again and eat. His ability to use his legs faded in and out throughout the day so we set up a painting project for him in hopes of it being motivating enough to encourage good muscle function. (He LOVES painting.) Our plan was a bust and despite having two carers on his mobility harness, he just couldnât do it. So, we pivoted. Our post-stroke technique is âuse my face as a paintbrushâ.
