It's a special week off for the Rocky Pardo Jewelry gals! Both myself and Megan will be posting away messages!

It's rare I have the chance to visit my family in Spain more than once per year, but when your cousin gets engaged after you’ve already booked a holiday trip and your abuela asks you to go to the wedding, you go to Spain twice in a year! To make this trip even more special, I get to see my cousin, Maria, and her fiancé exchange vows and the rings that I was able to make for them! I saw Maria when I was in Spain in January and she loved the little Ripplet Stacker that I was wearing and that’s the moment it was decided that I would make their wedding bands. I love how these rings are the perfect expression of their love, organic and pure. I’m looking forward to a week full of love and delicious food! Más, porfaplease!

This same week, Megan is on her honeymoon! And her rings have an equally special story. You may have already seen her engagement ring in my previous posts, it’s gorgeous and designing it with Kyle was so much fun. From there, the only natural direction was to have Megan and Kyle make their own wedding bands with me in the studio. It was so much fun working at the bench with the both of them and being able to put the final touches on their wedding bands a few months ago.

Most people know that I'm a total texture ju**ie! I love the way metal moves and can emulate other things we love in this life. When I fuse sterling silver dust on top of silver, it reminds me of the surface of the moon, much like this "moondust" cuff. I always say that I want my jewelry to talk back. What do I mean by this? I’m someone who is constantly touching and playing with the jewelry that I wear. They are my talismans, my amulets, my reminders of all the sentiment that they carry. By adding texture, contrast, and kinetic elements the pieces let me know they are there when I play with them.

Thank you all so much for these last shows! I am always so grateful for the people that support my work and am floored that this is what I'm able to do. Each year I experiment with taking a little more ”down” time. You won’t find me at shows for the next couple of months while I enjoy some uninterrupted bench time. My custom pile has grown quite tall (IYKYK, am I right? you know who you are (-; and I thank you so much for your patience and excitement) and I can’t wait to make these creative designs we have dreamed up together.

Hey folks! I'm Megan and I'm Rocky Pardo Jewelry's Sparkle Manager ✨️ I help get your pieces to Rocky's bench!

It was so great to travel this past week and meet so many of you at the Fairhope show! Rocky and I both work remotely - me in the St. Louis area, and Rocky spending more time in the Pensacola area.

Rocky is a dear friend of mine, and the first time we met it was a case of working hands sees working hands. She asked me what I did, and at the time, I was an organic vegetable farmer. But over the past year, I decided to change career paths and Rocky offered for me to transition from "carrots to karats." Having been to the gemstone show with Rocky as a friend in the past, seeing her gorgeous surprise work on my engagement ring with my partner (swipe to admire 😍), and seeing the dedication and vision that this powerhouse of a lady has, it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up!

When I'm not managing custom projects, coordinating art shows, scheduling social media, learning a little bench work, or organizing inventory and adjustments, I'm usually on a walk with my pup, bird watching, in a yoga class, cooking, or dreaming of good, seasonal food.

Hola! I’m Rocky of Rocky Pardo Jewelry and I wanted to (re)introduce myself to you all!

I’m a sparkle loving, animal hugging, water splashing, sun baby. I come from a long line of people with a creative bent: artists, singers, watercolorists, clothing designer, dancers. So it’s no wonder that my love for art found its own special home in the form of Rocky Pardo Jewelry.

I’ve been making jewelry for nearly as long as I can remember, it’s been almost two decades since my first metalsmithing class. And if you count Lisa Frank bead sets and knotted bracelets, I’ve been making jewelry even longer than that! My love for sparkle and embellishment has been present my whole life. If you ask my mom she’ll tell you some good stories about my love for sparkle, and my particular childhood obsession over her personal collection.

What I love most about working with precious metals is the fluidity of the material. It’s malleable and meltable and everything in between. Working with metal gives you an instant gratification as you hand fabricate and watch a vision come to life.

And when I’m not making art at the bench, I’m making art out of this little thing we call life. Whether it’s adventures with my pup, Agnes, the endless search for the next delicious bite of food, or learning what’s to love about each new places I visit.

As for this weekend, I get to be in one of my favorite places with all of my favorite people. Honored to be at again this weekend! I can't wait to see all of your lovely faces. Let's play sparkle!

the bulbs peek out, slowly

These gold shield hoops and I are ready for the spring sun to warm us up! I’ve been loving the winter blooms of the southern grow zones, but I’m ready for the full burst of spring’s florals. I love that first hint of spring when the greens seem to get greener. Then comes to delight of all the different clusters of color as the blooms burst open. But, my favorite part has to be the salt sea air laced with all the new floral notes. Sea salt, green, and blooms is the perfect spring.

sparkly friends on wrists

I’ve enjoyed this little winter getaway in SoFlo. I think it’s easy to think about the very physical things you miss about warmer weather when you’re in the dead of winter. Lately, I’ve been delighting in the sounds brought by soft breezes and bird chirping. Winter wraps us up in a silent serene beauty, but I don’t want to forget the vibrancy that awaits us as winter makes its way to spring and summer.

Artist Statement

I use silver and gold to create unique fine jewelry that accentuates every individual’s personal sense of style. I fabricate all pieces using a variety of techniques and often incorporate precious, semi-precious and non-precious stones. I find inspiration in the process that brings metal and stone from the earth to a completed piece. The extraction of rough elements and the refinement of those materials stimulate my desire to further refine while enhancing the original natural aspects. It is a give and take between the material and myself. While aesthetically pleasing from a distance, the full reward comes from leaning in and pouring oneself into a piece and focusing on its intricacies.

I started working with metals in 2006 at the Craft Alliance in St. Louis and instantly fell in love with the material. I moved on to obtain her BFA in Metalsmithing at SIUE under the tutelage of Paulette Myers. After undergrad I worked at James Durbin Jewelry Design under Roger Rimel where I honed my fine metal and jewelry skills. I currently live and create in Edwardsville, IL amidst fruit trees, a hop farm, and two feisty pups. I travel to display and sell my work in various shows and galleries.
