These cats can weigh anywhere from twelve to eighteen pounds. They are very healthy and live to be fourteen to twenty years of age. The British Shorthair has a thick, plush coat, but requires minimal grooming; once a week being sufficient. They come in a wide variety of colors, with as many as thirty different colors to choose from. The British Shorthair is a very robust and regal looking kitty. They have a very quiet demeanor, are very undemanding, and extremely even tempered. The British Shorthairs are shy when you first meet them but once they get to know you they become very loyal to the whole family. British Shorthairs like to keep a low profile, are affectionate; but not to clingy. The British Shorthair is known for their great health and what wonderful companions they are for families. The British Shorthair has a wonderful disposition and personality. They are very sweet, loving, and calm-natured. These self-composed cats are ideal for children and families.
