Boris is now back home, recovering after his teeth operation. He's still a bit wobbly. I can't feed him for another hour so he's fallen asleep in front of the food bowl...🍜😴

Here's an update on Boris’s teeth after the visit to the vet. He needs two teeth removed, and another one is broken, which perhaps can be saved with root canal treatment. Boris is certainly in pain. My earlier teeth and gum cleaning with the special pet’s toothpaste had some good effects as it stopped the infection from spreading to the rest of his mouth, so I am very pleased that I carried on with this. The vet gave him an antibiotic injection plus an 8-day treatment at home. I booked two appointments, one on Friday the 15th for his dental surgery and another after Easter. On Friday he will have a blood test done together with teeth surgery. The appointment after Easter will be to update vaccinations as his are very overdue.
The other bad news for us is the vet said to check for bad mouth smells in other cats. Sadly, both Jasper and Tinkerbell have bad breath, although Jasper’s is much worse as he had gingivitis when we took him home in December.

I would like to thank all who contributed to Boris's vet bill. Your contribution helps us ensure that he is treated without delay.

I was also told that there is an outbreak of feline flu in Malta, and we should be careful and re-vaccinate all four cats to be on the safe side. Those who subscribe to my newsletter may remember that I mentioned there was an outbreak of cat flu in Cyprus (also the Mediterranean but the eastern end). Cyprus, like Malta, also has a large population of feral cats. Perhaps this is a good time to get the vaccinations up to date as I am sure this will spread further.

Will be taking Boris to the vet on Monday. 😩 For those who didn't see the original story behind this, he had gingivitis two weeks ago and his gums were bleeding and nasty stuff coming out of them... Etsy 'temporarily' blocked (their explanation is that there was a suspicious login activity) my shop just before he got unwell and still holding my funds, so we couldn't afford to take him to the vet to get cleaning done and antibiotics. I did all my best to clean his teeth myself with a special toothpaste I bought long time ago. The swelling went down and no more nasty stuff coming out of the gums, I think they are starting to heal. However, Boris still looks miserable and probably has a toothache. 😢 I just hope that he won't be needing a surgery. We will know more on Monday.
