Good evening furriends! I hope y’all had a good weekend. Ours has been busy and I’m gearing up to do a deep clean on the cat house this week and get new cat trees put up. They will be so excited!
The old trees are falling apart and one of them has been there since 2022 and the post at the bottom is split in two making it very unstable.
This is my Skittles again, and having head tremors again night before last. I don’t know what’s causing them. The vet thinks they are actually seizures but the thing is, he doesn’t act like a cat should when having a seizure. He is fully conscious and responsive to me. He purrs and wants chin scratches and seems totally oblivious to what’s going on. I think it bothers me more than him. It is concerning because he needs surgery asap to remove the tumor on his belly. It has gotten considerably bigger the last few months and the vet is concerned it is cancerous so the sooner we get it out, the better chance he has of it being benign or at least not spreading. We won’t know until it is removed. That’s why we need the pawruffle to move. No entries in 4 day at all. Please continue sharing it and encouraging your friends to get a tikket or two. We really need to build the funds to get Skittles his surgery and for Paisley to have her dental work done so she can fight this infection. She is responding well to the medications she’s on and doing better but this issue will continue to come back until she has that dental done and the gel to fight this bacteria in her mouth. I can’t do both cats at the same time unfortunately but both are urgent for different reasons.
Skittles is 15 now and my little bed buddy who insists on sleeping with his face right on mine to the point I can’t breathe lol. He perpetually leaves bits of litter in my bed that had been stuck to his feet and he purrs so loud that it’s anything but soothing but to me, he’s my cuddle buddy and my heater if I’m cold. He’s also my heater when I’m hot lol. I can’t stand the thought of losing him or his siblings, Biscuits and Purrcey. They are all bonded with me in different ways but also with each other, since they are litter mates. They have been together their whole lives.
Losing any of them will devastate me so I want to ensure I do all I can to help Skittles get that surgery done and also find out what’s causing the head tremors.
I am not discounting the importance of Paisley having her dental work done either but she hasn’t been with me her whole life and while she is very bonded with me too, it’s still not the same. Her situation is also not life threatening unless the infection gets out of control.
Now, switching topics for a minute, remember last week I mentioned starting a new page that would be an offshoot of this one since Meta won’t fix my issue with connecting Instagram again? Well get this….I can’t create a new page either. I have no idea why. I’ll post the two messages I get in the comments. I have notified Meta numerous times and nobody gets back to me and the issue persists. I have googled for answers, I have watched numerous YouTube videos about it and none of the solutions work. I don’t know what else to do. Has anyone had this happen with their own pages and did you figure it out or did it resolve on its own? I’m stumped.

Good morning everyone! This is Filbert. Isn’t he gorgeous? He is Amora’s boy and is 3 years old now. He is super affectionate and sweet as he can be. His favorite thing to do is jump into my arms from the floor. I say “where is my fluffy flyin’ Filbert” and he crouches down and makes that leap. The trust he has in me is amazing. He knows I’ll catch him every time and it’s a big game for him.
I’ve been doing some soul searching the last week or so, trying to decide how to move forward since my Instagram got disconnected from this page. It’s still there on Instagram but I can’t post simultaneously anymore and it’s aggravating. So, since Meta refuses to fix the issue and continues to pass the buck, telling me they have escalated the issue to someone higher up (which is a lie because it’s been escalated since the beginning of July with zero feedback) I think the best thing to do is make a new page under the same name and start over so I can reconnect the pages and regain my followers on Instagram.
This page will not be deleted but we will slowly move posts over to the new one until everyone has migrated to the new page. I am not sure when I will do this, but sort of aiming for September 1st. The content will remain the same but I may change the header up a bit. It will always be Lois’s Lounge but I may add to that as well. I’m still working out the details on it.
I believe this page has lost a lot of followers and we are constantly being blocked when we post for fundraisers and we’ve lost a lot of support that way as well. Our current pawruffle is not doing great and the last awkshin was not great either, plus several bidders were non-payers so we lost out at the expense of the cats. It seems since this page and my personal original profile were hacked in 2022, things have gone downhill and our post reach is minimal at best.
That being said, if you ARE seeing this, please like and comment, even with just an emoji. It makes a difference. Also please continue to share the pawruffle. We are trying so hard to raise the funds for 2 surgeries. Skittles needs his tumor removed on his belly asap and Paisley needs a dental and possible tooth removal too. We’re trying to avoid that but the teeth still need to be cleaned to avoid further infection. There are many other cats that still need to eat besides and the only way I can make all this happen is by everyone sharing as much as possible.

This is my Biscuits. She’s my inside kitty and is 15 years old. She is also diabetic and sister to Skittles, also diabetic and the one I took to the vet yesterday. They have a brother named Purrcey. I showed him to you a few days ago. He’s the black and white tuxie. He is not diabetic.
Biscuits was diagnosed with diabetes in 2021 and has been very hard to manage with her glucose levels bouncing all over the place. In October of 2022, some of you might remember that she had a hypoglycemic episode where she bottomed out on her sugar levels for no obvious reason, but that incident caused a massive seizure that lasted over 90 minutes and did brain damage. She has not been the same since. It’s been a struggle at times but she is tough and keeps plugging along. I am grateful that she is such a fighter and love her to pieces just as I always have. Last night, her glucose was at 512 before bedtime. That’s too high. I gave her the usual dose of insulin at 2.5 units and we went to bed. I wake up frequently at night and check on her and she seemed fine last night. This morning I woke up around 7 am and found her on the floor by the bedroom door, which is normal for her, but she could not move. She was alert but her eyes were glassy and she was unable to stand up. I lifted her to the bed and immediately checked her glucose. Normal for a cat is 80-120. The meter showed 24. She was literally moments from death. I gave her Friskies shreds because the gravy helps bring the sugar up but the entire time I was terrified she would have another seizure like the last episode. I also added a few drops of corn syrup to bring the sugar up and keep it up. Thankfully she didn’t have a seizure. She ate and ate as if she hadn’t seen food for a month. She has a bowl of dry food 24/7 but it doesn’t raise blood sugar which is why she’s on it. She also doesn’t eat a lot of it. I kept testing her sugar every 5 minutes until she got up to 80. At that point I knew she was safe and I could get all the cats fed and not worry about her too much. When I came back from feeding the other cats, I called the vet to let him know what was going on. Yesterday when I was there with Skittles and Paisley, we discussed Bexacat, which is what Chico was on last year for diabetes and also Owen before he passed away. Bexacat is not insulin and works very differently than insulin because it does not include the pancreas at all. It is a pill they take once a day. It also does not allow a cat to bottom out like Biscuits did. The excess sugar is excreted through the urine and bypasses the pancreas. She’s been through pancreatitis 3 times in the past. The vet really wanted her to be on it because her sugar is so unstable. He stressed that today when I told them what happened this morning. Here is the issue I am having with switching to Bexacat..
Newly diagnosed cats are usually good candidates for Bexacat because they have not been on insulin and the manufacturer says not to use it if a cat has been on insulin. However, the vet was at a Bexacat conference last year when Chico was on it and was so sick and he directly asked the manufacturer why an insulin dependent cat cannot use it. The answer he got was that they CAN but the insulin must be stopped for a few days before starting Bexacat and that they don’t want users to use both insulin and Bexacat at the same time or alternate them. The problem with stopping the insulin for a few days is that their sugar can go too high and cause a diabetic coma. Biscuits runs high a lot even on insulin. Bexacat would stabilize that.
Neither Chico nor Owen had any negative side effects and their glucose numbers were perfect every time they were tested. They were also never on insulin. The vet is certain that this will help Biscuits sugar to stabilize and stop this bouncing which is bad on her organs. I get that. The issue I have is at her age, is it wise to change something so drastically without knowing if she will experience side effects or worse?
The other issue is cost. A month’s supply of Bexacat is $70. Right now I get the insulin for Biscuits free from a non-profit called Diabetic Cats in Need. They send me 5 Levemir pens every 4-5 months. I already spend $70 on Skittles insulin which is an animal insulin. Levemir is a human insulin. Biscuits did not respond to the animal insulin at the beginning so that’s why she’s on Levemir. The other issue is Levemir is no longer manufactured so we either have to switch to Lantus or the Bexacat. I’m really torn on how to proceed. I trust the vet but I’m not sure I trust the medicine. It’s also a strain on the budget to get $70 worth of Bexacat each month and then every two months double that because Skittles needs the insulin he’s on and his insulin is almost $70 too. Even if I put him on Bexacat, it would be $140 a month for both of them.
I don’t know what to do. I love this sweet girl so much and this morning’s incident really scared me. I was moments away from losing her and I have no idea what made her bottom out.
Have any of you dealt with an insulin dependent cat that switched to Bexacat? I kinda doubt it but I had to ask.
If this was your own cat, what would you do?
Her ear is red from being poked several times this morning to check her sugar. She’s an easy bleeder thankfully, but usually it’s only done twice a day, morning and evening. This morning I think I tested her 6 times in 30 minutes.
It heals fast, thankfully.

Thanks to a few amazing people and some more pawruffle entries, I was able to take Skittles and Paisley to the vet today. The news is not great and I’m not sure where to go from here. Skittles has a tumor on his belly where one of his ni***es used to be. It is about the size of a quarter in diameter but comparable in size to a small grape. It’s very hard and seems to bother him when it’s touched. The vet is concerned that it may be cancer but we won’t know until it is removed. He also has a bad inner ear infection which was treated today. That MAY be what caused the head tremors but the vet is suspicious it could be neurological. The only way to know is to see how he does with the ear infection treatment and if he has further episodes of head tremors. If not, then we know it was the ears causing that. If they continue then we need to look at other possible causes. He was a good boy but complained a little while they were checking his feet after he had that paw split a couple of months ago but other than that he did well. The surgery to remove the tumor must be done soon because if it is cancerous it can spread quickly. I’m not sure how we’re going to fund that right now.
Paisley…she is on the verge of being another stomatitis case. She has a severe infection at the back of her mouth, just as I suspected. It’s very red and inflamed and causing her a lot of pain. She needs to have a dental cleaning again and after that we’re going to try a gel paste on her gums that will fight future infections and hopefully prevent her needing her teeth pulled. The dental needs to be done asap as well. For now, she’s on antibiotics and pain meds to at least get her through until we can schedule the dental cleaning. The vet doesn’t want to pull her teeth unless she doesn’t respond well to that gel on her gums. It can go either way.
For now I do not owe the vet anything but to get these two procedures scheduled we need this pawruffle to go viral. Time is critical for both cats. The vet said he’d like to see Skittles back there within the next month and Paisley needs to be done within a couple of weeks. Right now we need a miracle for both of them.
I also wanted to mention that whoever sent us the case of Fancy Feast from Amazon, thank you! I have no idea who sent it because there was no note in the box, but we needed it and it is so appreciated! Paisley can eat that and she loves it! I also use it for my diabetic cats, Skittles and Biscuits because it doesn’t mess with their blood sugar. We go through a lot of it! So if you sent it and you are reading this, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The cats love it!

Good evening furriends. I hope you all had a good start to your week. This is my sweet Paisley. She is not going to be able to see the vet tomorrow because we haven’t got enough funds for her and Skittles too. She hasn’t eaten since Saturday and refuses to come into the cat house to see me. I made a tentative appointment for her tomorrow when I take Skittles but with the agreement that she was not coming if we didn’t have the funds. I don’t know what is bothering her so bad. She did eat small amounts of wet food last week but is refusing that too now. She’s barely 5lbs and can’t afford to lose weight. I don’t know what to do to reach more people with our current pawruffle. I do see many of you sharing and I appreciate that so much but from this page, we are getting blocked constantly. We have had 6 entries, that’s it. I hate to have to choose between two cats because both of them are important and deserve the same level of care but Skittles may have cancer and the head tremors are also concerning so I have to take him first. We need a miracle by morning so I can take Paisley too. Please continue to share the pawruffle as much as you can. I cannot do this without your help that way. I refuse to spend money on promoting these posts because Meta is not cooperative with helping me fix my Instagram issues and they are the reason I have lost my followers there. That’s a big deal for this page. We had over 300 followers and I can’t access any of them now. It’s so frustrating.

This is my Purrcey. You don’t see him much because he’s not part of the outside colony. He is the brother to my two diabetics, Skittles and Biscuits. He is not diabetic but he has herpes. Last night I was up with him most of the night because he was very agitated and uncomfortable but I don’t know why. He has always been sensitive on either side of his back, right above the hips. He’s been licking and biting at those areas excessively and last night he couldn’t stop. I cannot find anything obviously wrong so it may be internal. He is a bit better today but we’ll see how he does overnight. He will hopefully come to the vet with Skittles and me on Tuesday and let our amazing vet sort this out. We need the pawraffle to take off, furriends! We have had 3 entries and that’s it. I can’t take Purrcey if we don’t get enough raised for him too. Vinny and Paisley also need to be seen asap. Good evening everyone! We are launching another pawruffle due to the fact that I have a few cats needing to see the vet asap. Skittles is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon for a tumor on his belly and the head tremors I mentioned previously.
Vinny is having mouth pain, causing him to "scream" at times if someone touches his mouth. Gus is still dealing with diarrhea and was vomiting this morning.
My Purrcey has not seen a vet since we've been in Kentucky and he's having issues with excessive licking and scratching despite having flea meds on him. He favors two areas on his back and sides but I can't find anything wrong. Paisley is still not eating very well and today she did not eat at all.
With our previous awkshin, funds got depleted quickly due to excessive shipping costs (it's been awhile since I have shipped!), plus having to purchase food and other supplies for the cats the past 2 weeks.

Anicotti says, “I has a mad! Facebutt didn’t let many peeples see mama’s post yesterday. They keep blocking us over and over! It’s not fair! We’re just kitties, what do they think we’re gonna do? Sabotage Facebook? We aren’t bad kitties! Mama had to cancel Skittles’ appointment at the vet for tomorrow because she had to finish shipping for da awkshin and she had to use up most of what was left of da munny because shipping costs have gone up. All da packages are mailed now so dat’s good! Everybuddy should get their stuff soon!
Mama said she has no choice but to do a quick purruffle. She doesn’t want to but it’s da only way to make sure Skittles gets to da vet and we have food and litter. We gots a little bit of wet food left but only one bag of dry food and our litter pellets are down to 1/4 bag.
Da purruffle will be up tomorrow sometime. I hope you understand why it’s necessary.

Hey everyone, sorry I have been MIA all week. I’ve been busy with shipping from the last awkshin and dealing with some other issues with Skittles. Paisley is still not wanting to eat and Gus still has the skitters despite the meds he was on. Now Vinny is acting like he has pain. He got bumped by another cat yesterday and he rolled on the floor and screamed with his mouth wide open. I have no idea what happened as I picked him up he cuddled up to me and purred without any issues. He is getting old so it could be arthritis or something too.
I have two with kitty colds which is bizarre in this weather, so I’m just trying to stay afloat.
We had a few non-payers as usual so that has left me hanging again. Two told me they would pay on Monday and I haven’t heard anything yet. I try to be gracious because I understand stuff happens sometimes and life gets in the way. The others have not responded at all since the awkshin ended.
Skittles needs to see the vet and was scheduled for Thursday but at this point I can’t do it. I canceled it for this week and said I would call them back next week to see if we can get him in then. The good thing is our vet is moving closer and right outside of our town tomorrow, so they will be 5 minutes away which is awesome!
We can definitely use some help for these sick cats and also with food etc.
The last awkshin was the worst we’ve ever had due to Facebook blocking out posts and my Instagram account issues being unresolved. I have lost all my follower there because of this issue and Meta just makes excuse after excuse and says I have to fix it. They caused this issue 3 years ago when my original Facebook account was hacked and subsequently deleted without me having a chance to defend myself. I will never understand that or know exactly what happened. Now because of that, there is my old account info on this page and it’s blocking me from connecting the Instagram account. That is not something I can delete because I no longer have access to the old account abut Meta keeps telling me I have to do it. They don’t even know their own platform! I am beyond fed up with them. So goodbye Instagram I guess.
That’s 350 followers gone because of Meta! I am not happy!
Anyway, the cat in the photo is our community cat, Nipper. He’s got that name for a reason. He is sweet as he can be and loves to cuddle, but for no reason at all, he will bite us. It’s usually not hard but he has broken skin a few times. He’s sitting in my flower pot and has pretty much destroyed the one in front of him which was my Swiss chard. He sits in both of them. lol
He’s lucky he’s cute and I love him.

Please keep my sick ones in your prayers. Skittles is still having occasional head tremors but we don’t know why. He’s been okay for a few days but it comes and goes without warning. It’s very weird.

One year ago today we almost lost Chico to a severe bladder and bladder wall infection. I credit our amazing vet and techs for saving his life. It was such a scary time but he’s thriving now and he’s happy. Seems like it happened yesterday but I am so grateful he is still with us and back to his happy little self.
