Thank you to for not only installing our NEW outdoor arena but also maintaining our indoor arena footing. Both arenas are equipped with by which is an all weather dustless footing. We are so pleased to be able to offer this superior riding surface for our horses.

UPDATE: At the recommendation of our vets, we have decided to cancel lessons & riding for the remainder of the day. Horses have been brought inside, barn windows and doors are closed, & fans are on to circulate the air.

❄️ HAPPY SNOW DAY ❄️
The barn received about an inch of snow last night & are planning for a regular opening today. We are working now to clear their barn entranceways and stairs and the horses should be going out as normal - please use caution when walking around as some spots may still be slippery and to please mount / dismount in the indoor (not walk on horseback around the property or to from the barns). Lessons will continue as scheduled as well.

Hope eveyone can get out and enjoy the snow before it’s gone! ⛄️

Join us for an In Person Open House and Sally Batton Clinic on Monday, March 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM to learn about our MET Competition Team and MET Equine Opportunity Program being offered at Gold Coast Equestrian in Old Brookville, NY.

Sally Batton was Director of Riding at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH and Head Coach of the Varsity Equestrian Team for 30 years. She was named the American Riding Instructor's Association 2008 Instructor of the Year, was awarded the 2013 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Lifetime Achievement Award, was inducted in the 2020 IHSA Hall of Fame class and is the Founder of the Athletic Equestrian League (AEL). In 2022 Sally Batton’s book The Athletic Equestrian was published.

The discussion and viewing of the event during the open house is free to the public and will detail all of our equine and academic educational programs for all ages, our grant opportunities, collegiate advisement, and more! Metropolitan Equestrian is happy to announce our new location at Gold Coast Equestrian in Nassau County, NY! Here MET will offer their IEA and AEL hunt seat teams, as well as offer riding and horsemanship lessons for all of its Competition Team and Equine Opportunity Program riders from near and far! This location is home to many of our current and future MET owned horses. We look forward to all of the opportunities we will be able to provide our ever growing MET community, here on the north shore of Long Island.

Thank you to Gold Coast and Lisa Zimmerman for being so welcoming and accommodating in a smooth transition for our riders and families.

🥶 With the temperatures dropping to single digits tonight, we are thankful for our grooms who have our horses tucked in with extra hay, extra shavings, and extra blanket layers.

In an abundance of caution, we have choosen to cancel lessons for tomrorow. If you do venture to the barn on Saturday, please use caution walking around the property. Some areas may be icy from todays rain storm.

We will be closing at 4pm Saturday and remain closed thru the weekend. We will reopen on Tuesday December 27th.

Great show for the GCE Show Team at Country Farms last weekend!

⭐️ Eva Franchetti & Webster finished CHAMPION winning 2 of 3 classes - Webster has come such a long way!

⭐️Katherine Galimanis & Clarwood Gentemen Jim won their over fences trip and showed much improvement from their last show.

Thank you to John Rooney for getting our horses their safely and Ashely & Bobby for a great show.

Attention riders! Mark your calendars! The Smithtown Hunt Hunter Pace hosted by Dr. Laurie Landeau at Sandpiper Farm is September 24, 2022. The registration forms are on the Smithtown Hunt's Events page (register EARLY). Sandpiper Horses are available to lease for the event, but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND reserving a Ride Outside the Ring session with them to make sure you are a good fit.

Lucian travels all the way from New Jersey to show and train with us 🍀 wishing him luck next month when he rides in The Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities (LIHSSRD) Finals at The Hampton Classic Horse Show!
