We have an interesting, but good show this week. Roman Gottfried will be here. Roman is the founder and owner of Roman’s Holistic Dog Training https://www.holisticdogtraining.org/
We love having Roman join us because we always learn something new. What makes this week’s show interesting is, we only have one dog coming on this week, and he has two names.
Iroh/Amos will join us from Utah. He’s believed to be around 2-3 years old, and GPRRUM took him in after he was found in the middle of nowhere and had suffered severe injuries including multiple gunshot wounds, many lacerations from fending off coyotes, and nearly starved to death weighing only 60 lbs. We’re pretty sure the coyotes didn’t shoot Iroh/Amos with guns because coyotes can’t hold a gun and pull the trigger without any thumbs. That means a person did this to Iroh/Amos, then most likely dumped him out there. In the state of Utah, dogs are your property, but working dogs are classified as livestock. That exempts working dogs from any animal protection laws that may be in place. So, what this person did to Iroh/Amos is most likely within Utah state law and do anything illegal. You can read more about Iroh/Amos on his web page: https://gprescuerum.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20425526
We hope you can tune in and join us.

We have an exciting show this week. Do you remember Lori with the Newfoundland’s? No? That’s because she has been missing in action, but Lori will join us this week and maybe fill us in on what’s been happening. We have a special guest joining us Sunday, Aspen. This boy was fostered by Sydney back in 2021. She said he was one of his favorites.
Poppy will be here. Everybody that meets this 2 year old girl is just in awe. Her foster mom says “Poppy is like a warm cup of cocoa on a chilly day”. You can read her bio in her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20567506
Barnie will join us Sunday. Barnie is a year old this month, and he’s 50 pounds. Barnie's playful nature knows no bounds, especially when it comes to his favorite pastime: playing with balls! Barnie is a true love bug, and he adores being showered with pets and good belly rubs. You can read all about Barnie on his web page:
https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20110785
Windy Will be here from Texas. Windy is around 5 years old and is a bit timid at first, but once she warms up to you, her affectionate side emerges. You can read more about Windy on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20522967
We hope you can join us.

We have some awesome dogs joining us this week. Do you like seniors? We’ll have two on this week. This week will be our 98th show since we created The Rescue Show. That means in two weeks, it will be our 100th show, should we do something special? Let us know.
Elijah will join us this week. This 9 year old senior was a GPRS alumni, but then his human mom passed away suddenly, so he had to be returned. Elijah needs a new home so he can live out his golden years filled with the love he so deserves. You can read all about him on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=11804530
Yeti will be here from Utah. Yeti is around a year old and he’s an athlete, he can clear a 4’ fence with a single bound. He also loves to cuddle, is house trained and is great on a leash. You can read more about Yeti on his very own web page: https://gprescuerum.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20414338
Frosty Bear will join us from Washington. Frosty Bear is around 2 years old and he’s a Pyr/Akbash mix. This boy has the best of both breeds in one great dog. His long legs are perfect for those lazy stretches when he's getting off the couch, and he's always ready to lean against his favorite humans for scratches and hugs. Read more about Frosty Bear on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=18840987
Cotton will grace us with her presence. She’s about 10 ½ years old and she’s a victim of her human falling ill and no longer able to care for her. When Cotton came to her foster home, she was a little plump, and she wasn't particularly ecstatic about the diet she was placed on. But over time she has blossomed into a healthier version of herself, and it is evident she feels much better. Now sporting a trimmer figure, she wiggles with joy at mealtimes, showing off her happy dance when her bowl is filled. Seniors are the best! You can read all about Cotton on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=15940172
We hope you can tune in and join us.

This week, we have a new host starting. Please welcome Molly with the good ole Pyr Paw. Molly is a GPRS Screener, a foster, and an all-around nice person. If we’re nice to her, she just might let us get a glimpse of Julio. Molly also has some news about Julio, but you need to tune in for that. We have a great line up of dogs this week too.
Millie will join us. This 3 year old beauty queen isn’t quite ready yet but, Molly is fostering her, so why now bring her on? Millie and Julio hit it off from the start, it’s only been a week, but so far, so good. We’ll keep you informed.
https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/
Jolene will be here. She’s around 2 ½ years old and is the definition of affection. Her current bio sums it up by saying: “They say smiles open doors, and Jolene is hoping her beautiful smile opens the door to your heart!” You can read more about her on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19896997
And we have puppies!
Qiana is about 3 months old. Her foster dad is a rambunctious explorer, she loves meeting new people and new dog friends. She was on the smaller side in the litter but is good eater and growing quickly. Qiana has her very own web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20291892
Qui-Gon is a sweetheart, a bit introverted and cautious, but will follow her sister or her foster siblings on an adventure. She has conquered the stairs and enjoys looking for good places to nap. Qui-Gon has her own web page too: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20292207

We think we’re going to have a good show this week, we have 5 dogs coming on. Here’s a little bit of news. The Rescue Show is looking into having a little contest, a Pyr Big Butt Contest, what do you think? We still have some stuff to figure out, like how to do it. So, get your Pyr butts fluffed, and let’s see what happens.
Dobby will be here. He’s about 9 months old, being fostered in Washington with GPRS. Dobby loves car rides, he hops right in and loves going to new places. He also likes cats and of course, his foster sister because she plays with him. Read more about Dobby on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19795620
Kendall will join us. She’s 5 months old, and her foster family lovingly call her peanut and Pyr nugget. We love her foster mom’s wording. She said her favorite thing to eat is everything! She’s super food motivated. She even eats with the other dogs like a good girl without problems. You can read more about Kendall on her very own web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19908976
Winnie will be here. Winnie is a very special girl, she likes to chime in with a little bark when the big dogs are barking. And Winnie is blind. She has what is called Bilateral Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. It is congenital and will not be progressive. Read how special Winnie is on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19890583
Bonnie will join us from Utah, and she’s bringing a friend. Bonnie is about 3 years old. She was found wandering along a highway in Utah, she had no clue that in just a few short weeks she'd be facing a death sentence. She is completely housebroken and can be left unattended with no issues. You can read all about Bonnie on her web page: https://gprescuerum.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19866960
Bear is tagging along with Bonnie. Bear is almost 4 years old, and he’s a big boy weighing in at 145 pounds. They’re still learning about him but so far, he is very laid back, and super sweet with some gorgeous badger markings. His bio will be up as soon as they’re sure it can be accurate. It will be on Bear’s web page: https://gprescuerum.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20095610

We have a great show for you this week, we’re so excited we hardly know where to start, so here we go. Please help us welcome Great Pyrenees Rescue Resources Utah Montana to the show. They’re based in Utah, this is a state that has classified working LGD’s as livestock, which stripped them of any animal protection laws that may be in place. We will also be streaming the show to their page every Sunday. There’s more! We have a special guest stopping by, he’s also our friend, more importantly, he’s a great friend to the dogs.
International Behavior Consultant Roman Gottfried will be stopping by to see how things are going. Try not to be late, Roman’s schedule only allows him to come on within the first 20 minutes of the show. You never leave without learning something new from Roman.
Mr. Dude will be here from Utah. This 4-year-old weighs in at 100 pounds. His foster mom Jess reports that he’s a big chill guy who's ready to mingle with whoever he can, people, dogs, cats, whoever. You can read more about Mr. Dude on his web page: https://gprescuerum.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19820791
Daffodil will be here. She’s around 2 years old, and she has a beautiful coat. She hasn’t spent much time in a house, but this girl is catching on. She had some skin issues when she first came into rescue, so she does very well in the bathtub. Read more about Daffodil on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=18304839
Trisha will be here. This 3 year old girl just amazes us. She has been raising the bar on the definition of the Perfect Pyr. You can read more about her on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19306259

Whew, it’s been a crazy week in rescue. This week we have a very special guest on. Annie is a puppy foster with GPRS, she’s bringing 3 three week old puppies on the show. These puppies were born on someone’s property, then their mama abandoned them for unknown reasons. Puppies this young are a lot of work, and GPRS is going to give us a peek at puppy fostering.
Delilah will be here. She is a very special 10-month-old girl, she’s a Mastiff/Pyrenees mix. She loves to snuggle on the couch when watching tv, and sometimes, she even crawls in bed and wants to lay right next to her foster mom.
You can read more about Deliah on her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19794987
Radish will be here. His foster mom calls him Mr. Social Butterfly, but his real name is Radish. He is super curious, playful, very sociable, and friendly. You can read more about him on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=17286406

We're going to have a good show this week. First, we want to give a shout out to our friends at PYRescue in Colorado. The volunteers are all busy prepping for winter, they had to redo their facility floors, that's extremely expensive, and they're a small rescue. Let's show them we care, head over to https://www.pyrescue.org/ and donate a few bucks to show them we didn't forget them. Stefanie will be here, and that means many dogs coming with her.
Little Willow will be with her. She's only 4-5 months old, so she's still in the "little stinker" stage. She's tiny. Her bio should be up soon at: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19271933
Concho will tag along too. He's around 3 years old and prefers people to doggies and is great on walks. Conchos bio is here: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19080223
Snoopy will be back. Remember this 15 month old boy? He was dropped off at a overcrowded Texas shelter with his leash that said "My Best Friend". I have nothing. You can read his bio on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19395167
Madison will be her. She's not 2 years old yet. Her bio not ready yet, but Stefanie will will fill you in with anything you want to know. Her web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19354202
Sundance will be here. Remember him? At 6 months old he was found on the road with his companion, Butch, and they both had their snouts taped shut with electrical tape.
You can read more about him on his webpage: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19465144
Girly Girl Will be back. She's 7 months old and a bubbly girl with loads of personality. Her web page and bio: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19269956

Julio will be here. He's 6 years old, and his favorite time of day is a tossup between breakfast or dinner. Julio will need some patience, then you will have an amazing dog. Read more about him on his web page: https://www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=17764325

Did you know that Guardian breeds are amazing at guarding livestock, but they aren't born knowing how to guard? It's true! These dogs start by guarding their own offspring, then the humans they live with who also co-parent the puppies, and finally, the livestock that is part of their family. Dogs don't automatically know how to guard or herd other animals - they have to be exposed to them, bond with them, and establish a relationship, which involves lots of training. (1)

But there's something about guarding breeds that's already in their brains when they're born - it's not innate behavior, but rather a predisposition to create bonds and learn that behavior. This is analogous to what goes on with humans and language. We don't pop out of the womb being able to speak, but we're clearly predisposed to learn language in a very significant way.

“We’re looking for animals raised in the same environment where, for whatever reason, one has excelled and one dropped out,” said Erin Hecht, speaking as both scientist and dog lover. (2)

If we can understand how evolution gave dogs the skills to guard and bond with livestock, it might help us understand how humans evolved the unique skills that set us apart from other animals. What do you think about this fascinating topic? Let's discuss in the comments!

While Casper is expected to make a full recovery, not all dogs of this breed have the same chance of survival.

We're going to have a great show this week. GPRS will be here with two of their finest.
Tessie will he here. She's a petite girl at 65 pounds, and she's always smiling. She loves to have fun, so she will need a playmate.
GPRS Jacob will also be here. He's a tall handsome 3 year old, and Tessie's foster brother. We think he's mixed with an English Setter.
PYRescue in Colorado will be here with their new boy Rudy. He came in on 9/11 at 4 months old.
Does your Pyr come when you call them? We're going to talk about recall this week. We hope you can join us.
