Just... a dog...
From time to time, people tell me "you see, it's just a dog" or "you're wasting your time for a dog"...
They don't understand the distances traveled, the time spent or the costs involved in "just a dog".
Still, many of my proudest moments have come from "just a dog."
I have spent many hours with "just a dog" as my companion and have never felt more alone.
Some of my saddest moments have come from "just a dog" and, in those dark days, the soft touch of "just a dog", comforted me and got me through the day.
If you also think it's "just a dog", you'll probably understand phrases like
"just a friend", "just a sunrise" or "just a promise".
“Just a dog” brings the true essence of friendship, trust and passionate joy into my life.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person.
Because of "just a dog", I will wake up early, take long walks and look ahead.
So for me and people like me, it's not "just a dog" but the embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond remembrance of the past and the sheer joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out the best in me and takes me away from my thoughts and problems of the day.
I hope one day they will understand that it is not "just a dog" but the being who gave me humanity and kept me from being just... "Just a man".
So the next time you hear the phrase 'just a dog'...smile because it's 'they just didn't get it'"
