Two baby spearpoint leaf tailed geckos (Uroplatus ebenaui) that recently hatched, one male and one female. The males are much more “spikey” and serrated while the females are more smooth. This is the smallest species of leaf tailed gecko from Madagascar. They naturally have a very short “spearpoint” tail and adults are only around two inches long. The babies could sit comfortably on a penny! They are also one of the hardiest and most active of the Uroplatus making them an ideal species for herpetoculture.

Another baby electric blue gecko (Lygodactylus williamsi) joins the world.
Lygodactylus williamsi are a beautiful small day gecko from the remote Kimboza forest in Tanzania. Due to deforestation and overcollection williamsi are critically endangered in the wild. All of my williamsi offered for sale are captive bred by me in my home, none of the williamsi I have ever owned have been taken from the wild.
When setting up my breeding group I took the care and time to collect founding stock from as many different unrelated CBB sources as I could find. I keep my breeders only as pairs and keep very detailed records. I know the lineage, lay date, hatch date of every gecko I produce.
I have produced and shared more care information on this species than anyone in the world (care videos, podcasts, Reptiles magazine, etc.). All of it is available for free on my website. I have also produced more of this endangered species than anyone in the world. I have produced approximately 2000 at this point!

More Cophotis dumbara in the making!
The Knuckles mountain pygmy lizard (Cophotis dumbara) is one of the rarest lizards in herpetoculture and is also critically endangered in it’s native Sri Lanka. They are a perfect species to keep though as they are small, bold, active, hardy, and breed readily in captivity. Care is very similar to an Abronia or Uroplatus although I have found Cophotis to be hardier than those other genera. There are currently only a handful of breeders of this species in the USA but that will certainly change as people start to catch on to how wonderful these little lizards are. They make a perfect display species and are very interactive with their keepers. Many of mine will beg for food and jump on my hand during enclosure maintenance.
I have a care article that I wrote on this species posted on my website.

Some of my chameleons enjoying the outdoors for the summer season. A fine mist is a great way combat the heat and provide hydration. The chams always look their best after a few months spent outdoors. As far as our husbandry has come over the years nothing compares to fresh air and sun.

A nice clutch of carpet chameleons (Furcifer lateralis) hatching today! They are unrelated to any other lateralis in the hobby and should be ready to go in two to three months. There may be more available much sooner than that… 😉

This female carpet chameleon (Furcifer lateralis) is going through a beautiful yellow phases. Did you know that carpet chameleon females can look drastically different from one season to the next and even from day to day? Their colors are controlled by locality and aren’t as predictable as those of their cousins, the panther chameleons.

A perfect clutch from this beautiful pair of northern spiny tailed geckos (Strophurus ciliaris) only three weeks after their last clutch!
This is a great desert dwelling species to keep and breed. Even though they are nocturnal they spend all day perched in the open and visible for observation.

I recently picked up a pair of Helmeted chameleons (Trioceros hoehneli) from Kenya. I think they represent an ideal candidate species for herpetoculture as they are beautiful, small, hardy, and live bearing. Hopefully things go well with them here and people become more interested in them.

I went away for the weekend and came home to four different species hatching! New Phrynocephalus mysaceus galli, Lacerta schreiberi, Lacerta agilis agilis, and Pristurus carteri. I also collected eggs from Uroplatus ebenaui, Lygodactylus williamsi, Nephrurus amyae, and Furcifer lateralis. Spring is in full swing here!
