Our group is taking the month of January off to recover from 2024. While we are on sabbatical we will be implementing a new credit card processing company and hopefully a better way for customers to sign up. Please keep an eye on the webpage to sign up after January.

"In order to help reduce the cat and dog overpopulation we are providing surgical cost assistance to Michigan residents who rely on state or federal aid to spay/neuter their dog or cat. We are working in 10 select counties at this time, developing partnerships with private practice veterinarians and low-cost clinics, collaborating with other animal welfare groups as well as promoting public awareness through education." -SNAP of Michigan

Group information - I received an email from a voucher recipient about our participating veterinarians. She stated that she was very disappointed in us that her veterinarian was not on the list. She should not be disappointed in US. Veterinarians choose not to be a participating vet because they don't want to give a discount. We ask for a discount as a nonprofit organization in order to help more families spay and neuter their pets. I wish more veterinarians were on our list. It's a wonderful tax deduction for them as a business owner. It shows that they give back to the community, even if they only do one or two surgeries a month. It shows that they recognize there is a pet overpopulation problem and they want to help.

While processing assistance application this is what I've run into -

- Proof of Michigan residency and state or federal aid has been uploaded but no application to put it with. No way to contact these people.

- Application is submitted but missing the proof of Michigan residency and state or federal aid. Receiving 103 applications in 7 days means multiple people uploading at the same time, some uploads may have been bumped off which is why I'm emailing and asking for the information.

- Grant money was allocated in the first 3-4 days but we still have our regular program which includes a copay of $35 per cat and $55 per dog.

- We are a financial assistance program. We don't do the surgeries here, we include a list of participating veterinarians when we send out the vouchers.

- If you do not hear from us through email or receiving vouchers in the mail please shoot me a text or email to ask about your application. We may have your documentation but no application that would have your contact information. 259-340-0330 or [email protected]

There are many benefits of spaying/neutering your pets! The biggest is stopping unwanted litters!

If you live in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties in Michigan and receive Federal/State aid, apply for our assistance!

There is a copay:
$58 per dog
$37 per cat

We thank everyone that has applied in the last few days. As applications continue to be processed, the grant fund is being allocated to first come first served applications. We appreciate everyone's patience.

At this time, future applications must pay towards the copay with proof of residency and proof of Michigan state or federal aid for applications to be processed.

Please keep an eye on your email for any needed additional information for your application. Responses needed within the time span stated in the email sent.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
But also be mindful that we all have jobs and this rescue is a non-for-profit volunteer-based.

Difficulty sending it? Email [email protected] with your name and the pet you're applying with.

Due to the influx of applications and calls, please text or email for fastest responses.

Applications galore!

Since our announcement, we have received a multitude of applications. We must stress that with the grant, it is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

Once the grant is depleted, there will be a co-pay to assist with the vetting.

Also, we ask for some patience as a few volunteers are a bit under the weather. We are completely volunteer based with no paid employees so we appreciate your patience as we get everything processed.

We want to thank everyone for their patience as we update our website, find new promotional avenues, and continue our mission to lower cat/dog populations in Michigan.

Besides helping those on state/federal aid in several counties, we work hard to find foster cats/dogs forever homes.
