With over 12 years of experience working with and handling dogs, 10 years with my own bussiness and an extra 2 years in a boarding kennels. The Hairy Hikers aim to provide a quality dog walking and home sitting service. No matter the size of your dog we are here to help. The owner of the Hairy Hikers is a female who has 2 years experience working at a boarding kennels. So if your dog has medicatio

n or is nervous you don't need to have any worries about whether your dog will receive the utmost care. The Hairy Hikers would be devastated if our customers didn't think that they weren't getting the quality of service promised and would aim to do what felt necessary to put a smile back onto your face and most importantly a wagging tail for your beloved friend.

Day 2 of the practical skills is officially over. I'm rather bummed about that they are just so fun!
I was so invested in today's classes I hardly took any photos honestly I'm just amazed I got any all weekend!

Im back again! This time I brought Old Biddy Bailey. Day 1 of the DTC Practical workshop and what a fantastic day!
At the practical workshops we get learn from 4 Fantastic trainers who I definitely fangirled over a little. (Shh dont tell them they may get big heads. Especially that Laura!) Catch up with with other DTC students that have become great friends. Refine and learn new handling skills to ensure we are giving your dogs the best.
And my favourite part cuddle and make friends with lots of dogs.

Last time I came here I brought Echo who is very eager and quick to learn. So this time I wanted to show that you certainly can teach and old dog new tricks as Bailey fast approaches her 12th trip around the sun (😭) but she's smashing it!

Now for a good night's sleep in the hotel after a very busy day ready for round 2 tomorrow!

Overall it's a soggy doggy day and we were loving it.

Sam got his toes wet. Then we spent all of 10 seconds playing fetch because he likes to chase the stick then chew it up.

Way too hot to be doing our usual walks and it's only 10 am!! Taking it real steady today plenty of shade by a nice little steam and lots of sniffy games to help burn off energy.

So yesterday I got to Megs walk to realise Bailey had stolen the ball out of my coat pocket 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I pulled out the sniffing games. Does this mean Meg was getting less exercise? Not at all. Infact quite the opposite sniffing uses more energy than running/walking. Some benefits of scent games: 🐾 Mentally stimulating. 🐾Physically stimulating. 🐾Low impact. 🐾20 minutes of sniffing is the equivalent of 60 minutes walking. 🐾Sniffing triggers the release of endorphins, dopamine, and other neurotransmitters that induce feelings of pleasure and relaxation in dogs. 🐾Brings down their stress and anxiety levels.

Safe to say today was a wet one. I think only Benji boy enjoyed the walk and everyone was stuck on lead. Even had to poor the water put of our boots afterwards 😂

I don't feel any body could ever make a video that captures a dogs cheekiness as much as this.. I love it!

How could I capture Megs personality.... like this! So after spending a small fortune on toys to help enrich and burn some of the abundance of energy this little lady has it's safe to say I finally won. Yesterday I pulled out the tug-e-nuff toys and its safe to say that the score was: tug-e-nuff 1 Meg 0.
