January Update Post:

We have taken in 3 new dogs that will be available soon. We will post more information and pictures when they are available for adoption.

- 10 year old hairless male
- 4 year old powder puff male

Mavis had her eye removal surgery. She has adjusted really well and is doing great! She will join her new family once she gets the stitches removed and is healed.

We've already posted about Winston and PeeWee being adopted together but we'll mention it again. We're thrilled that this senior pair get to live the rest of their days together. The are doing really well in their new home!

Thanks again to every single person who has supported us! We were facing some difficult decisions at the end of 2024. Your support pulled us through and gave us a little nest egg for future needs. We simply cannot do this without each and every one of you!

We wrapped up 2024 with an adoption of Winston and PeeWee! They are 10 year old brothers who have been together since they were puppies (not liter mates). A wonderful family found them online and adopted them both! We’re so excited that they get to spend the rest of forever together!

Special thanks to their foster mom Natalie and foster dad Joe for doing so much for this pair. They have even faced timed with the new family so they could talk to the boys. Thanks for always going above and beyond to help!

Also thank you to Darlene who is transporting the pair to Missouri. She had a trip planned and said no problem to the boys tagging a long!

Our 2025 is starting on a great note! We hope the same for all of you!!

We are so incredibly thankful for the support we received on our last post. We have received enough donations to cover all of our January expenses and have a little to keep in reserves for intake or emergency vetting.

We received donations from familiar names and new names. You are all so generous! We know that money is tight especially at the holidays and we appreciate every single dollar received. Thank you for helping us continue our rescue efforts. We are working on one last adoption for the year. Will post an update soon.

This is the most vulnerable post we have ever made. This is our current bank balance for our one and only bank account, $111.18. We do not have additional funds in any other accounts. Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal are all at $0.

The good news is that all bills are paid so we have no outstanding debts. The bad news is that we have a lot of expenses coming up in January that we cannot pay for. Here’s an estimated cost breakdown:

Mavis eye surgery up to $2500

Peewee annual exam including senior blood panel $500

3 new dogs coming as soon as we can pay for initial vetting $400 each without dentals

Monthly medication for a forever foster $65

Total estimated cost $4365

That does not even take into consideration emergency funds or just general savings to continue intake.

If you’re asking why we are so financially short, donations are down, adoptions are down, and intake and expenses are up. Our fundraising efforts this year have not been as successful as in the past. This has been our largest year for intake ever. We have spent nearly everything we have to pay for the care of dogs in our program. We run a very lean operation but cannot survive without help.

We have been pretty busy behind the scenes for the past few weeks. We rarely come to you asking for donations but we could really use some help! We've had 3 dogs with severe dry eye that all required appointments with an ophthalmologist plus medication. Over the weekend, one of our new dogs developed a hematoma after his neuter surgery. He then popped his sutures open and an infection set in. He required a scrotal ablation at the emergency clinic.

Here's a breakdown of expenses over the past few weeks (in addition to basic vetting):

Winston $577.10
Total: $4,138.24

We helped Jerry cross the Rainbow Bridge today. He was a stray and had some obvious medical conditions. He had degenerative kidney disease, was incontinent, and had some sort of neurological issue. We knew his time was limited so we made sure that his last months were the best of his life! Jerry passed knowing love and affection up until his very last breath. Run free Jerry. You were the king of sass even in your final moments.
