Friends of Alamance County, NC Shelter CATS We are NOT AFFILIATED with, NOR EMPLOYEES OF, the Burlington Animal Services Animal Shelter. We are independent and network the CATS to help save lives.

This volunteer based page was created to help the cats in need in Alamance County, North Carolina, and in particular to showcase adoptable and rescue-only animals at the Burlington Animal Services Shelter. (We also refer to the shelter as Alamance County shelter because it serves all of Alamance County.) Any insulting or harassing posts or comments will be deleted at the discretion of moderators a

When the shelter's capacity of stray and owner surrendered animals reaches a maximum animals must be euthanized. Most animals can be euthanized after 72 hours. You must report a found animal to the shelter, but you are not required to surrender the animal. If you hold a found animal, you must keep it at least 72 hours AFTER you reported it as found before finding it a home, adopting, etc. (same as the shelter stray hold) but longer is better. Email the shelter with photo(s), date found and where found, and finder contact information. The shelter and most vets will scan for microchips. Posting on lost and found sites, flyers at area found, vet offices and shelter are also very helpful to reunite lost pets with owners. Adoption fee $90 (dogs) and $50 (cats). The shelter periodically has half price adoption sales. Adopted animals are spayed/neutered, have 1-year rabies vaccine, and age appropriate vaccines against other diseases. Please spread the word for this lost cat. Georgie was LOST on November 19, 2024 in Mebane, NC 27302 near Fieldstone apmts

Message from Owner: I have had her for almost 5 years, I recused her. I recently move to the Fieldstone apmts in Mebane. She had not been outside since 2020, when I lived in Snow Camp, which was only a couple times. She had to get out late at night between 9:30-12:00 cause that was the last time The doors were opened. She always sleeps with me and that night I had a shift til 11:45, and I got at 12 at night, she didn’t sleep with me that night.

Description: Shes a white cat with dark grey patches all over her body. Shes very shy, so it’s hard for her to come up to people. If she does it’s usually for a man and she will rub on him.

Tis officially the season!

Honestly, we've been kept busy all year pulling cats and kittens out of engines as a result of the unpredictable weather we've had in 2024 but it IS officially "check for animals that may have sought out warmth from your car engine or in your tires" season!

Bang on the hood and wait a few moments before you start your engines! Look in your tire wells and under your cars before you take off!

Message from Owner: My seven years old daughter is missing her boy. His name is Little dude, and he's super friendly. All black with a light blue collar. Please help us bring her baby . We miss him dearly.

Description: All black, neutered male. Light blue collar with name, and contact information. He is microchipped. Tag or collar could have fell off (in worst case)

Description: This little guy has been around my hse . He seems to be an inside cat very friendly. I can't bring him inside because I have a cat and she doesn't get along with other cats. I have food and water on the porch for him. And he also is wearing a blue collar. If this is your baby please let me know. I stay on a main road and would hate for someone to hit him. My phone # is

Cat Benatar and Tim McClaw are best buddies! Both kitties were surrendered to the shelter when their owner no longer wanted them. During Home for the Holidays this duo’s adoption fee is $25.

Message from Owner: One blue eye and one that is greenish/gold. If seen please contact me immediately! We raised him from a kitten and we love him so much. We are unsure if he was picked up by someone or wandered off. He does not usually go far and always comes . He's very sweet but can be skittish. We miss him very much and just want him .

Description: Marshmallow went missing the night of the 7th from N Park Ave in Burlington. He is about 8 months old, not neutered and has one blue eye and one goldish/green eye. He is solid white.

Near EM Yoder elementary

Sparkle Cat Rescue foster cat, 5 year old Nebula was last seen last Friday. She escaped her foster when furniture was being taken out. We hope she wasn’t up in the furniture and fosters checked with movers. Fosters have not seen her since.
She is petite, 5 years old, spayed and microchipped. She was rescued in 2019 and has been indoor only. She has white on her neck and belly.
