My Boy Dingoe passed yesterday. He was 12 1/2 years old. I like to think he was born around Mother’s Day in 2010. We got him just before our family took a trip to Sydney for a Australian Trumpet Guild Convention. Hence the name Dingoe. All my other pets have musician names but Dingoe was different. He was a rescue dog out of a littler of about 6 or 7 pups from our neighbor. All of his siblings weren’t as fortunate as he as he was the sole survivor of nomadic country dogs. Mom was a white husky mix, Pop was a German Shepherd. We lived out in the country on acreage and he still couldn’t be contained. We let him roam free out there and I would constantly get calls from neighbors, and the school next-door saying come get your dog. The kids all knew him and would feed him their lunches. Sometimes he’d be gone for days and I’d get calls from the rural community next to ours saying he had spent a few days playing with their children. He cheated death multiple times. Most notably by being bitten by a rattle snake, and getting hit by a car. When we moved to the city he was and escape artist extraordinaire. Crossing extremely busy streets and always coming home. He was BIG! A Shepherd, Husky Mix and weighed in at about 120 Lbs. He suffered the wrath of our Alpha Male dog at the time when he was pup and lost his right eye very early in life. It didn’t seem to bother him one bit. He was great with our kids. He could sing a little bit and was a great swimmer. Yes he was my one eyed Dingoe. His ashes will be spread out near Black Beach which was his favorite place to play. Good Bye Dingoe, Rest in peace, We love you madly.
