Damage can occur QUICKLY! Walk your dogs while it’s cool (before or after the sun is out) or train them to wear paw protection on these man made surfaces. While we hear all the time that dogs are “built for the outside” or “shouldn’t need shoes”, concrete and asphalt don’t exist in the wild. They trap and hold heat in an extremely dangerous way for dogs, especially when they’re expected to walk on those surfaces for long periods of time, like on walks. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.

CPES boarding is available again. Maximum of 2 medium or larger dogs or 3 small breed dogs. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Fixed dogs, until expect in spayed females. Must be dog friendly. Dogs are provided with cots, crates and blankets. Fenced in backyard.

In order to ensure health safety, for visits I will be wearing gloves, disinfecting my clothes and shoes before and after every visit. I’m making sure to stay up to date on this new respiratory illness so I know what other precautions to take. I do ask if you can, please try not to expose your pets to high volume areas before I start caring for your pets. From my understanding they say 2 weeks for quarantine. I know this is a big inconvenience on both ends! Let’s keeps our pets safe and healthy!

I’ve made the tough decision, starting now until the end of the winter (flu season), to not have dogs board in my home. There’s too much of a risk. I’m not set up to wear I can make my basement an isolation area to allow a safe place for the dogs to stay.

So, I am offering to those who already put down a deposit or for those who wanted to board this winter, to offer multiple visits for your dogs, no price change or gas charge. This only applies to current clients.

If your pet will be joining in on any Thanksgiving celebrations with friends and family, keep in mind their curiosity may have them exploring guests’ bags and eating items they shouldn’t. Take extra caution around the holidays to help keep your pet out of the ER.

Boarding clients, just a friendly reminder your dogs will have to stay in the boarding room separate from my own dogs during their stay. This is a safety matter for both my dogs. One is a service dog and the other is my senior dog who has poor balance due to past injuries and age. Also, there has been an illness going around that appears like kennel cough but is not, it’s a new respiratory illness that can be transmitted. If your dog has a cough, sneezing and any other symptoms, they will be denied their stay, but you booking deposit will be refunded.
I will reach out a couple days before your dogs stay to see if your dog is not showing any signs of illness. So far, I have not heard of any cases of this illness in Virginia but I’m not going to take any risks.
