Harambe Harambe is so awesome, loving and interesting that she needed a page of her own. She also wants to share her story of being rescued & living with distemper

Most strays who are found with so many strikes against are put down. Harambe was very lucky to have been taken to Austin Animal Center; and to have survived her injuries and illnesses. Today, she is strong and happy, she still has tremors from the distemper but so far has not has any seizures which can sometimes happen with distemper dogs. She's become an amazing dog and has become a therapy dog to the kittens we foster.

Our Story

Most strays who are found with so many strikes against them are put down. She had been hit by a car; had a broken pelvis and broken right femur; respiratory infection and was positive for distemper even after getting vaccinated. Harambe was very lucky to have been taken to Austin Animal Center; and to have survived her injuries and illnesses. Today, she is strong and happy, she still has tremors from the distemper but so far has not has any seizures which can sometimes happen with distemper dogs. She's become an amazing dog and has become a loving therapy dog to the kittens we foster.
