Oh Lena. You can't go over there. Your legs aren't strong enough to chase your sisters. 🐹💕🐹
Lena was acting more energetic tonight than normal. Going into the muff then turning herself around and coming back out. Trying to dig under the wall, etc. We thought she missed her sisters maybe so we put Alice in there with her.
Oh. Right. She may be fighting some kind of illness. But tonight, she's also in heat. 😄🤦♀️❤
Pringle's got that lovin' feeling! And she wants the fluffeh. ❤❤❤
We wanted to take a minute and update everyone on our Lena. She's a fighter and the last couple months haven't been easy. We started with digestive (poop) issues, then a drastic weight loss and just sitting against the wall while her sisters ate. We have had multiple vet visits, a panic that set Daddy on a 2.5 hour drive to Tractor Supply on a Sunday for what seemed like the only bag of critical care in the area, to get her to eat. A week ago, the vet noticed that she was stumbling on her left legs, both front and back. But after that vet visit of a new brand of critical care and an injection of fluids, her poops were getting back to normal. On the last vet visit on Thursday, Lena let the vets take her blood to test it since the multiple feces tests did not show a parasite. The results showed that there was something occurring with her liver. This could also be the cause of her limping, although that seems to be improving.
To make things easier for her, she now has her own living space. We put up a wall separating her from her sisters. She still eats dinner on the sofa with Alice almost every night. They can still hear her in the cage. But this way, her sisters won't accidentally run into her when they get spooked by us (Little Debbie and Pringle are very easily surprised and will RUN. At times, into whatever is in their path.)
Since the move, she seems happier and has gained a little bit of weight. She eats with no issues. Is pooping more normally. And she drinks alot. Which could be because of the 2 meds she is on. We are taking each day at a time. At 4 and a half, she is living her golden years in her little apartment, with her muff, her own food, hay, water and all the love from us.
4 years ago, we adopted her from Helping All Little Pipsqueaks as a sister for Kara (our Supergirl) and we named her after another strong-willed character in that show (Lena Luthor). She's already showing us that she's got this. Whatever it is (parasite, toxin or cancer) she is
Lena hasn't been nipping Little Debbie anymore, just backs off if LD approaches the bowl. So Lena going back is progress. Until Alice decides she wants to assert her dominance. Pringle has the right idea. Inside the pigloo is safe. Or is it the Pringloo now? 😆
Right now, Little Debbie still runs if you get too close. So I took a video without lifting the top of the cage, and tried to be discreet. It's dark, but I love it. Lena and Little Debbie. 💕💕💕
Seriously? There are 3 water bottles in the cage. 🤦♀️
Alice really wanted the water bottle on the other side of Lena. Because Alice likes to have her water close to her bowl. But Lena wasn't giving that up.
2nd option: Then just move the bowl. Unfortunately, the new fleece on the floor is lumpy at the moment. That didn't stop her. 😆💕🐹
4 years ago, oh the shenanigans! But thank you, Lena, for coming into Kara's life, and ours, when we needed you the most! 💕💕💕
The "after lunchtime video". Abby was still hungry. Miss you Abbs! 💕💕💕
4 years ago today, we lost our Abby. Named Abigail by Helping All Little Pipsqueaks when they were on their Once Upon a Time kick, we shortened her name. Abby, Abbypants, Abbs. She was an abbysinian, aka our original fluffernutter and to this day, remains the oldest pig we've had at 5 years and 8 months old.
Enjoy this video of our fabulous four. 3 died in 2020, leaving Kara (Supergirl) alone. So 4 years ago tomorrow will be the ONLY day Kara was without a sister. Because on Friday, someone very special has a gotcha day to celebrate. But today, we remember our Abbykins. ❤❤❤
