Este año, RITA reconocerá a dos investigadores (uno brasileño y otro latinoamericano) con la posibilidad de presentar su trabajo en una sesión especial del congreso, que a su vez incluye la inscripción gratuita al mismo, el transporte, alimentación y alojamiento.

Para ambos premios se valorará:
· Innovación.
· Claridad y calidad del resumen presentado.
· Impacto regional.
· Presentación en inglés.

⚠️ Se recibirán solicitudes hasta el 30 de junio a las 11:59 pm EST, y se notificará al ganador el 15 de julio de 2024.

I am very happy ! Dr. Rupprecht’s BOOK History of Rabies in The American CONTINENT was finally published. During COVID pandemic with key Colombian researchers and colleagues we were responsible of the chapter. In 2020 thanks to Dr. Natalia Cediel Becerra's leadership, we were one of the first countries completing the assignment, but many countries were delayed and sadly, we had to update our chapter due to an additional HUMAN DEATH by in the country due to an UNVACCINATED in 2021. Rabies will not be “eliminated” completely in Latinoamerica due to its presence in many wild animals such as bats, skunks, foxes etc., and many "street" cats and dogs that don't receive immunizations, but we ARE able to control it and reduce human cases by PREVENTIVE vaccination of ALL cats and dog pets, production animals and humans at high risk. And in the case of suspicion, APPLYING in a TIMELY manner the post-contact prophylactic protocol (rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin). (available in Amazon June 2024)

Not just taking care of companion animals and production animals, but did you know?: -Veterinarians ALSO serve as epidemiologists in city, county, state, and federal agencies investigating animal and human disease outbreaks (such as food-borne illnesses, influenza and ) -They ALSO ensure the safety of YOUR food in processing plants, restaurants, and water supplies. - Many ALSO serve in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. -Many ALSO work at Environmental Protection Agencies studying the effects of pesticides, industrial pollutants, and other contaminants on animals and people. -Veterinarias ALSO evaluate the safety and efficacy of and pharmaceuticals medicines, medical products, pet foods and food additives.-Veterinarians ALSO work at the Fish and Wildlife Services, the National Institutes of Health and its National Library of Medicine.-More than 100 veterinarians are employed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to protect public health by investigating zoonotic diseases and other diseases affecting thehealth of animals and people (malaria, Ebola, Rabies, Leptospirosis and etc). -Veterinarians ALSO work at Space Stations NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration !

Now I know there are 16 species of in Georgia, USA (insectivorous & fructiferous, both pollinators), and well yeah, some carry VACCINATE your & dog AGAINST RABIES!. By the way do NOT FEED RACCONS! . Those wild animals ALSO carry rabies, (PLUS leptospira and canine distemper virus!)
