A fun day out including dog shows
Two dogs spring from the slip, running, turning, straining every muscle to catch a flapping tumbling lure as enthusiastically as their ancestors did to catch live game generations ago. It is a breathtaking spectacle - beautiful, healthy dogs exerting themselves to the limit . Lure Coursing tries to stimulate the dogs natural instincts for the chase. The "Lure" (a
bunch of plastic bags) is tied to a rope or line that is pulled around pullies by an electric motor especially designed for this purpose. The course pattern is irregular and somewhat similar to the way a hare might run in the open field. NO LIVE GAME IS EVER USED IN THE EVENT of the lure coursing dogs. Many of the breed clubs fully endorsed the sport and commended efforts for promoting responsible dog ownership. Not only do we encourage good health and safe exercise for our dogs, but other dog owners are always ready and happy to direct newcomers to the right source of information concerning any health or handling questions they might have.
