Experts are warning pet owners after a spate of blue button stinger incidents on Queensland's Sunshine Coast left a vet treating several dogs in one day.

Kawana and Point Cartwright Beach Areas - Please keep your dog on a leash.

We have recently consulted on 2 patients with acute renal failure 36-48h after they have been to this beach area. The initial sign noted in both patients was acute vomiting after being at the beach and this progressed to inappetence and lethargy.

We do not know the source of the toxin so it is wise to keep your pet under supervision while on this stretch of beach.

If you suspect your dog has ingested something, it shouldn’t have, please seek medical attention immediately. Our North Coast Vet Emergency and Critical Care team is here 24/7, 7 days a week, including all the public holidays over Christmas, New Year and throughout the year. Please share so you can help prevent another dog from becoming affected.

Our heart is broken. Our beautiful boy Billy seems to have been a victim of poisoning. How anyone could be that cold and evil as to intentionally set about to kill dogs and cause the heartbreak to the family. Dogs are our hearts, our love, our companions and faithful cuddle buddies. There are a number of posts warning people in the Buddina, Minyama, PtCartwright and La Balsa areas that there is a number of cases of dogs presenting to Vets with symptoms that suggest a toxicity by ingestion. Unfortunately our darling Billy was walking at Buddina on Sunday and passed away in the early hours of Monday morning. Please visit at page to stay updated. Spread the word and if anyone lives in those areas who has cctv footage can you please look and share it to the police and RSPCA. I hope the universe lets us finds who is possibly responsible. Our loving thoughts and cuddles go out to Billy’s beautiful and heartbroken parents 🐾🐾💔

Lock up your pups! 🐶
Dog-nappers are snatching family pets across the South East, and they have a hit list of some very popular breeds.

Cavalier King Charles spaniels are among the pooches going missing nationwide, but staffies, kelpies, maramas and chihuahuas are the most common varieties disappearing from Queensland homes, according to one Brisbane-based pet theft investigator.

It comes after three four-week-old puppies were stolen from a Woodridge home while their owners were watching TV earlier this week.

A reunion 10 years in the making ❤
Seeming too good to be true, owners Kaitlin and Shaun were in disbelief when they received a call about their cat who had been missing for almost 10 years! Coming into RSPCA Dakabin as a stray Simba was luckily microchipped.

As if victims to a prank Kaitlin and Shaun received a call about their cat who has been missing for longer than they ever imagined. Shaun answered and after being asked about Simba he just couldn't believe his cat, who'd been missing since 2012 was safe and well at RSPCA QLD. After replying 'Is this a joke?' to Holly who was delivering the good news Shaun put her on speaker phone so he and Kaitlin could enjoy the good news together.

Confirming that they were still able to care for sweet Simba, Kaitlin and Shaun rushed to RSPCA Dakabin where they were reunited with their cat 10 years later! In just as much love as they were with Simba 10 years ago he is finally back to with his forever family 🥰

We are so excited for this long awaited reunion. Welcome home Simba! 🏡

UPDATED!! Thanks Sunny Coast we have a foster carer for Phoenix!!

🐾🐾🐾Can you help?? 🐾🐾🐾

We need a special potentially long term foster carer for poor little Phoenix. He has some ongoing medical issues (causing some urinary leaking) that require ongoing investigation and treatment at the moment.

He is now 7 months old and is a black Labrador. He is a happy kinda guy who needs help with his basic manners and obedience (like any pup!).

His foster home needs to meet the following criteria please
- no cats
- no small children
- Secure fencing
- preferably another dog
- carers to have time to spend with him and train him
- carers be able to take him to his vet appts.

As a foster dog - at this stage SCARS will continue to cover all of his needs.

If you feel you can provide Phoenix with what we have listed above, please email [email protected]

Please share to help us find a special carer.
