Grinners is signing off, but please keep grinning!
Alas, after a delightful eight years, Grinners Dog Treats is ceasing operation. Rising costs have made it impractical to continue my little home-based operation.
It’s been such a delight to meet Grinners’ caring customers over the years, sharing laughs and swapping stories about the darling doggies in our lives. Thank you for your support. It’s meant the world to me.
And much gratitude to all those who contributed to my tiny entrepreneurial endeavour:
Drawbridge Creative Graphic Design is responsibile for the distinctive look that got Grinners Dog Treats noticed at markets and on store shelves.
Local suppliers made Grinners a quality treats choice:
Evan's Fresh Seafoods & Restaurant fish plant in Pubnico supplied silver hake, haddock and cod for What the Hake and Chowder Chow.
Vandyk Blueberries in Caledonia supplied the blueberry pulp for Blueberry Chicken and What the Hake.
Hell Bay Brewing Company in Liverpool kindly gave us the spent brewer’s yeast that provided What the Hake and Blueberry Chicken with extra nutrition and nose appeal.
Thank you, all.
It’s been a point of pride that Grinners Dog Treats have been carried by several excellent local shops over the years. Thank you so much to Rodney at Planet Paws, Dartmouth and Tristan at Jollytails, Halifax who helped boost my confidence early on as I tried to introduce healthy, locally made and flavoured dog treat into a busy market sector.
We have also been thrilled have Grinners on the shelves at Wile's Lake Farm Market, Sea Port Gifts and Treasures, Port Medway, Hell Bay Brewing, Liverpool and White Point Beach Resort. Thank you Elsbeth, Val, Melanie and Cathie!
Limited supplies of Grinners Dog Treats are still available at Sea Port Gifts and Hell Bay Brewing. And I will, of course, continue to make them for all the good girls and boys I meet on my beach walks and trail hikes. My “magic left pocket” is definitely staying open!
The “Grin of the Day” Facebook feature started in the early days of COVID as my attempt to add a bit of cheer into what looked to be a darkening time in our lives. Thank you to everyone who’s followed our page. I hope you got a grin and a giggle most days, and I apologize for the occasional groan. (The groans were only “occasional”, right?!)
My very best wishes to everyone in our little Grinners community. I will miss you all. Big hugs to you and to the furry wonders who light up your life and keep you grinning.
Long may you run!
Robin
