For Paws Pet Sitting Friendly and experienced help to take care of your pets at your home, occasionally or on a schedule. Pet sitting, pet sitting, pet sitting!

If you can't take your furry friend with you, then leave him or her in your home. I feed, exercise, brush, love, and play, play, play with my charges. My goal is to take care of your four-footed friend almost as well as you do. I have a lifetime of experience with cats, dogs, and rabbits, and have also cared for goldfish, ferrets, gerbils, and parakeets. I have experience giving medicine either by

pill or subcutaneous injection. Leave a list of how to feed your pet, and I'll follow it, including shopping for food if necessary. I've been in the pet sitting business for almost a year. My references are available on request. My current canine clients include Rupert (golden doodle), Cailin (wheaten terrier), Buddy (golden retriever), Mya (German shepherd/rottweiler), Aileron (German shepherd cross), Abby (Australian shepherd), Java (black Lab), Amazing Gracie (border collie cross) and Bentley (Maltese/mini poodle). I've also exercised a prizewinning German short-haired pointer named Fergie. And I take very good care of my two "old lady" cats, Tabirika Black Onyx and Syrannis Moonstone. I'll visit your pet for a one-time session, or I can put you on a schedule, like Mya, Aileron, Abby, Java, and Bentley. There's nothing better than coming home to a dog, cat, or other pet who's been well treated and loved while you're away. Call now for holiday scheduling. I had to say goodbye to Suzie the St. Bernard. She was only about four years old, but always had major health problems. During her first year, she had three operations on her right eye, and the vets finally couldn't do any more and took it out. Among other things, she developed a sensitivity to tap water, and drank only bottled water during her last year. She had both ACLs go bad in her back legs at the same time, and required two surgeries to get her mobility back. Her owners gave her the best quality of life they could, but pain and losing control of her back leg muscles finally convinced them they could do no more. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge Saturday, February 8. Run and play, Suzie, like you could never do here.

Heads Up.

A Portland-based pet food company issued a nationwide voluntary recall after a house cat in Oregon died from eating one of its products, which tested positive for bird flu.

Please, folks, if you have pets, don't buy a flocked Christmas tree. Yes, they're pretty, but the flocking is dangerous to pets, particularly to cats who like to sit among the branches. And don't put tinsel on your Christmas tree: cats in particular like to play with it and eat it, which means death or an expensive operation when it balls up in your pet's stomach or intestines.

If there's anyone whose dog is having difficulty with its joints, there's a supplement that has been available in the UK that can now be ordered in the USA. It's called UMove. I have a client with a bull dog/pit bull cross that was having pain and stiffness in her back leg joints. When I saw the ad, I let my client know about it. He ordered a jar. UMove's advertising is accurate: in just a few days, my client let me know that his dog's walking is better. I cared for her a few days ago, and he's right, she is better! Way to go, UMove: thank you for helping this dog!

Today has been a day full of stress! I checked in with a cat I'm caring for, and couldn't find her. Looked all over the house, no cat. Called owners, left message. Had to leave to care for two dogs. Arrived at their house, and found that one of the dogs had p**ped in her crate a lot, then spread it around. Trying to get away from her p**p, she shoved the crate next to the kitchen island. And that's where I found her. Two hours and two calls to the owners later, I managed to get the dogs outside, clean most of the crate floor, take anything washable outside to hose down, tossed rugs p**ped on into the garage, and wiped up several spots of p**p that had come from the dog's paws. Then, with my dear husband's able help holding her, I washed all four legs and paws on that dog. Talked to owners, who said to give her Immodium. Did so. Got dogs back into their crates. Then both of us went to the house where I couldn't find the cat. We searched the whole place. Sitting in the living room, we listened and heard a faint "mew". We searched again, and found the cat had gotten trapped in a bathroom where the door moved just enough closed she couldn't get out. Enough! I don't want any more stress today, thank you!

Busy weekend coming up. I'm caring for Suzi the epileptic St. Bernard, her canine friends Jack and Lucy, and their feline housemate SB. I'll also have cats Binx and Mabel, and Godzilla and Mo, a Boston bull terrier and a black pug. Fun and games!

Found out two days ago that a client's dog named Rosie, who I have cared for several times, died. She was a lovely English bird dog with very soft fur. She made it to 14 years, and had a wonderful life.
