For Paws Pet Sitting Friendly and experienced help to take care of your pets at your home, occasionally or on a schedule. Pet sitting, pet sitting, pet sitting!

If you can't take your furry friend with you, then leave him or her in your home. I feed, exercise, brush, love, and play, play, play with my charges. My goal is to take care of your four-footed friend almost as well as you do. I have a lifetime of experience with cats, dogs, and rabbits, and have also cared for goldfish, ferrets, gerbils, and parakeets. I have experience giving medicine either by

pill or subcutaneous injection. Leave a list of how to feed your pet, and I'll follow it, including shopping for food if necessary. I've been in the pet sitting business for almost a year. My references are available on request. My current canine clients include Rupert (golden doodle), Cailin (wheaten terrier), Buddy (golden retriever), Mya (German shepherd/rottweiler), Aileron (German shepherd cross), Abby (Australian shepherd), Java (black Lab), Amazing Gracie (border collie cross) and Bentley (Maltese/mini poodle). I've also exercised a prizewinning German short-haired pointer named Fergie. And I take very good care of my two "old lady" cats, Tabirika Black Onyx and Syrannis Moonstone. I'll visit your pet for a one-time session, or I can put you on a schedule, like Mya, Aileron, Abby, Java, and Bentley. There's nothing better than coming home to a dog, cat, or other pet who's been well treated and loved while you're away. Call now for holiday scheduling. No website is currently available for this business.

Busy weekend coming up. I'm caring for Suzi the epileptic St. Bernard, her canine friends Jack and Lucy, and their feline housemate SB. I'll also have cats Binx and Mabel, and Godzilla and Mo, a Boston bull terrier and a black pug. Fun and games!

Found out two days ago that a client's dog named Rosie, who I have cared for several times, died. She was a lovely English bird dog with very soft fur. She made it to 14 years, and had a wonderful life.

Staying with a pit bull who's scared of storms. Clouds moving in. Uh oh, he's just headed for the basement!

Long care session with a pit bull. We survived a thunderstorm yesterday (Saturday), so the rest of the time has to be good!

Just finished vacation care for two pale yellow Labs and a GSD mix. That was fun except for the morning when one of the Labs appeared with something hanging out both sides of her mouth. Turned out to be the lower part of a deer leg, polished somehow, complete with toes.

Finished caring for two tabby and white cats yesterday, today caring for a cocker spaniel and his two cat buddies at one house, a pit bull in another house, a St. Bernard, a bird dog and a cat in yet another residence, and starting a long series of overnights with three Labradors. Yahoo! Good thing my guy doesn't mind taking care of our two cats. I do have to come home occasionally to get a "cat fix".

If your dog has recurring ear infections, is licking its toes often, and is more odorous than usual, he or she might have a grain allergy OR a Candida yeast infection. The symptoms are similar. Putting your dog on grain-free food provides improvements, but does not solve the problems. Candida thrives in moist areas, like flapped ears and between toes. Adding a probiotic/prebiotic supplement to your dog's diet may work better than taking her/him grain-free. The probiotic keeps Candida controlled by using the sugar in grains and carbs that the yeast loves, creating lactic acid in the intestinal tract instead. Consult your vet before giving your dog a prebiotic supplement, and always watch your beloved furry for symptoms like these.

I get to take care of cocker spaniel Thor and his feline friends Cairo and Phineas this weekend! It will be good to renew our acquaintances, and have some fun walks and playtimes.

January has been odd. Several clients canceled my visits to their pets, due to owner illness or vacations they could not take because of lack of snow where they had reservations. Sigh. So I turned to my other businesses Cobweb Creations by Janet and editing. I'm knitting for upcoming shows, and expecting a book for editing any day.

Good thing I didn't have to walk more than one dog this past week! And that dog hates cold, making her p*e sessions extremely fast!

I just heard that there are several kinds of longhaired cats that people who are allergic to felines don't react to as much as they do regular cats. The breeds include Norwegian Forest Cat, Rag Doll, Siberian, and Maine C**n.

I'm caring for Harriet the pit bull this weekend.

Just finished caring for two tabbies (one brown and black, the other a female red). Then I cared for a pit bull in a neighboring town. Have a great New Year, everyone!

The end of this week: fun with Binx and Maybel (cats), Harriet (pit bull), Mo and Zilla (pug, Boston terrier), and Abby (Lab).

This is the second dog in the last two weeks that we’ve had come in to our hospital with this type of bone stuck around it’s mandible. Separate companies but the EXACT same design.

Please do NOT buy this type of bone for your pup! It’s not worth the risk. Luckily for this patient, our technician was able to wiggle it free but our previous patient was under general anesthesia for nearly a half hour while we went through every tool in our arsenal to saw through both sides of the bone safely.
Both dogs are lucky that they did not end up with lacerations or broken teeth.

I just heard something I wanted to pass along. Human pacemakers cannot be shared with another person after the death of a wearer, but they can be used by a dog with cardiac problems!

30/11/2023

I'm caring for little Miss Snickers the elegant longhaired cat later this week, and Harriet the pit bull. Abby the Lab starts on Monday.

NBC News just announced a nasty respiratory virus that is making dogs all over the country sick. It's an upper respiratory problem, including sneezing, discharge from eyes, coughing, and fatigue. Bad thing is, this virus apparently doesn't respond to antibiotics so far. It is very contagious. Please keep your dog away from other dogs while vets across the USA figure out how to treat this!

I have a sudden new pet on my client list! My client was hunting on his farm two weekends ago, and suddenly this black dog launched itself out of the woods at him. She was covered in fleas and ticks, but somehow he saw her beauty. He took her to a vet, who gave her a de-wormer, a flea bath, and unburied her ticks, and lots of tests: other than being dehydrated, hungry, chewed on by fleas and ticks, and incredibly lonesome, the black dog was fairly healthy. The vet guessed that she's half English pointer, half Labrador, so she's likely smart and quite trainable. My client promptly named her Lucy, and after his hunting trip was over, he brought her home with him. She is so happy!

I got to see my furry friends Thor the cocker spaniel, Cairo the gray cat, and Phineas the red tabby twice this week. What fun!

I'm having to say good-bye to two dogs I've cared for for several years. The first is Harry the Storm Prognosticating pit bull, who could predict severe storms several hours before they arrived. The second is Reuben, a 135-pound five year old St. Bernard, who developed cancer and who will be euthanized because the disease was not caught early enough to perform a successful operation. I will miss them both.

04/10/2023

I just received some terrible news. My pal Reuben, a 135-pound St. Bernard who I have cared for since he was adopted 5-ish years ago, has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. He's a very happy, optimistic, mischievous oaf who enjoyed romping in the yard with his toys and sniffing all new scents with great attention. Saturday morning is his last appointment at the vet's. I will miss him greatly.

I have a couple clients who suffer from cancer or have a family member inflicted with the disease. But I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that I now have a long-time canine friend who likely suffers from cancer. He's such a big good-natured guy. That this disease may be destroying him is horrible. He had a biopsy last week, and his owners are also trying to get used to the idea. He's been so healthy for most of his life!

24/08/2023

I'm going to feed and walk Thor the cocker spaniel this noon. It's hot, so we're going to have a short walk. If you must go out, everybody stay safe in these desert-like temperatures!

Just discovered a pet food recall list for both dogs and cats. This is a good thing, pet lovers! Go to www.petful.com/recall-lists/ then enter either "cat-food-recalls" or "dog-food-recalls". The Petful website shows lists by years, and there are several when you scroll down. The two most common are Freshpet, and any pet food from a certain popular dollar store. Be aware, folks, and save your pets!

This weekend, I get to care for two St. Bernards and a cat at one house, then a few miles down the road I have two more cats at another house. Fun!

Everyone knows to check their pets for ticks, frequently.. but did you know that you must also check their mouths?

I've just heard of a product that can make giving pill medication easier to give to dogs and cats. It's called Pill Masker, and is a thick paste that comes in a jar. You form the paste around the pill, then give it to your pet. Pill Masker comes in two flavors, bacon and peanut butter. It is available from Amazon.
