Educational post!
Sometimes pet grooming isn't going to look beautiful. Sometimes it will look ridiculous and that's going to be what is best for the pets. We are very proud of grooms like this, to be perfectly honest!
This is why we got into this career in the first place. To help animals.
So yea, sometimes you're going to get a kitty back that is half shaved and looks downright silly. But this cat is so much happier after this shave down and is even showing us their tummy! Something a traumatized cat would never do.
It's a delicate area and cats don't show you that without being happy and healthy.
This kitty came in very matted. The knots were so tight, they were pulling on their skin. This can happen to some inside/outside cats. It can happen to any cat. Cats are difficult to groom and have thin skin that can actually tear from the tightness of knots. It will bruise and it is easy to accidentally cut. Especially older cats with thinner skin.
This kitty goes outside and the owner wanted us to "keep as much hair as possible to keep them warm when they go outside". So that's just what we did. We shaved down the uncomfortable parts and left the rest. The goal of this cut was not to be pretty, the goal was a happy cat who can now move comfortably and you can tell cause they are showing us their very weird looking belly!
I'm very proud of this crazy looking kitty. Cause we helped an animal today. And that is why we do what we do.
