I began with horses, with dogs on the side. I have found that all of the same principles apply with dogs, so my skills have transferred over beautifully. My dog career began when I was a child, and then as soon as I was able I have been taking in fosters and helping them be respectful members of society. I’ve had over eleven dogs come through my doors to live with me, all different breeds ranging
from tiny Chihuahuas to energetic Pitbulls. Each of these dogs has taught me so many valuable lessons that I am truly grateful for. One foster in particular stole my heart and continues to teach me lessons every day. She is a 2.5 year old female Pitbull mix, I adopted her when she was about 4 months old and she continues to be my greatest teacher. Unfortunately she injured her hind end and so her future plans of being a competition dog have been cut short. She is now retired and enjoying all the creature comforts that the world has to offer and she’s still a champion snuggler. I had quite a few more fosters in between adopting Milly and my second dog, Chloe. Chloe came to me as a dog that had a very indulged past allowing her more opinions than a dog should be allowed to have. She has gone through extensive training with myself and is on her way to becoming a reformed young lady. Her willing nature (for those who are worthy) and giant heart made me fall in love with her and she became part of the family. She is eager to learn and proud to do what is right and after seeing the progress she has made in her training, we are looking forward to competing in Competition Obedience trials in the future. I have successfully completed a 6 month apprenticeship under the brilliant Monique Anstee of The Naughty Dogge. By shadowing her, she helped me see that each dog is unique and should be treated as such. Working with and helping teach hundreds of dogs has helped me to read every dog’s weaknesses and enhance on their strengths, to mold them into confident and respectful citizens. Because of Monique, I have now handled many different breeds with many different temperaments and I have the skills and knowledge to handle any dog that comes through my doors.
