What is Dock Diving?
Dog dock diving is a thrilling sport where dogs sprint down a dock and leap into the water - showcasing their agility, strength, and enthusiasm. It’s incredible to see the sheer joy and determination on their faces as they soar through the air, sometimes reaching distances of over 30 feet!
Side note: in an event only one dog is allowed on the dock and access to the water at a time, this video is from our Daycare crew during one of our play sessions 💦

NADAC Agility Trial - Werribee 29-30 June 2024
The weekend just gone, Hemi and I were at a NADAC Australia Agility Trial in Werribee. After gaining our Novice titles, I decided to get right out of my comfort zone and jump up into Open level and boy did I feel it! I hadn’t been well and really should have taken the weekend to rest, but I couldn’t be told and regret nothing lol
I knew I would struggle and quite literally suck moving up a level - but it’s an effective way to make sure I keep working at improving. Between Hemi’s excitement bounces, going off and making up her own course (she knew I would just balls it all up anyway and that I did). I got in her way, my timing in giving her the information she needed was slow or non-existent and as usual I forgot (many times) where I was on course and what direction we were ment to be heading in.
Over the weekend, we entered 6 events:
Saturday - Regular Agility, Chances and Weavers.
Sunday - Jumpers, Regular Agility and Touch N Go.
On the Saturday, we struggled with Hemi continuously taking the dog walk which was right next to the tunnel she was supposed to take - this favoritism of the dog walk did play in our favor Sunday, when the course was reversed.
We had lots of weave poles (I wanted lots of on course practice of these), while trying to keep pushing her to perfect these I noticed she was starting to shut down a little and they zapped her focus, so I didn’t push her to perfection after trying a couple of resets - also I needed as much opportunity for myself to practice on the other course obstacles and not use up all our time on the weaves.
On the Sunday I either got my sh*t together (only slightly) or took a little pressure off myself to get it right and just enjoy our time on course. We ended up earning one pass in Regular Agility and one pass in Touch N Go, it’s all about collecting those purple ribbons!
