The Shikoku's last Educational Booth for the season. Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival 🌸
Mai the Certified Therapy Dog was wonderful as always and Daito was in his element surrounded by 6 children at one point! As he lounged in the grass he rolled on his back asking for belly rubs and did not mind the kids petting his feet or gently playing with his tail and ears. Gets us thinking he could be the next Shikoku to become a THDN?

Our Shikoku Educational Booth was a big hit this past weekend at Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco Japantown! The crowds enjoyed loving up on the dogs. Mai the Shikoku Therapy Dog will be back out on Saturday if you want to stop by and visit.

I forgot to update this! Mai has earned the next level of her Certified Therapy Dog title from THDN to THD (50+ visits). Good girl Mai! (The 1st and still only Shikoku to become a Certified Therapy Dog in the US with AKC) So proud to show the sweet temperaments these Nihon Ken can have and what wonderful family dogs they can make.

Hikaru (CH LeSand's Set Fire To The Rain) just passed all 3 of his assessment test visits (a high school, rehab facility and nursing home). He will be receiving his Therapy Dog Registration soon!

Good Boy Hikaru!!!
He/We passed our 2nd evaluation visit at a longterm Nursing Care Home. This dog had never been in a hospital like setting, but his temperament stayed solid. Greeting elderly in wheelchairs with his wagging tail, independently putting his paws up on beds to greet patients laying down, then later calming laying at my feet in the activity lounge.
Hospital settings can be most challenging for new therapy dogs due to the strange hospital type smells, hospital equipment and bustling hallways, but this boy was unfazed. One more test and he can be a "Registered" Therapy Dog (50 visits he would be "Certified").

Wellness Day/Fitness Challenge this weekend for Police Officer's.
First was a grueling excersice competition for officers and next was an afternoon of family fun of bowling. Mai did an amazing job for her first time in a Bowling Alley! She even gave comfort when bowlers missed any spares.😆

Mai is completely fine with this little girl plucking her blowing (shedding) coat off her neck, her tail, her butt,... 😅 Good girl Mai Mai! (One of the Therapy Dog Intake Examination Assessments is the Tester pulls on the tail and ears as well as grabbing fistful of fur/coat.)
