Hello,

I'm Auburn, and I'm eagerly searching for my forever home! At 6 years old, I'm being fostered near Minneapolis, MN, and I have a few must-haves for my ideal home. Firstly, I'm looking for a quiet, calm environment, preferably with a securely fenced yard where I can indulge in my favorite activity—running! You see, I absolutely love to run and play, and having a safe outdoor space to do so would make me one happy pup.

My journey with SIRA began when I was rescued from a commercial breeding facility, so transitioning to life in a home with humans has been a bit of an adjustment. I'm still a tad skittish, shy, and cautious, but as I grow more comfortable, I'll want to be by your side, observing and seeking affection. Once I trust you, expect me to request head scratches and pets—I find them utterly delightful!

I'm an early riser, bursting with energy and ready to seize the day. Exploring the fenced yard and learning to walk on a leash have been some of my recent adventures. I prefer quiet streets and trails, as loud noises and unfamiliar encounters can spook me.

Despite my initial hesitations, I'm a smart cookie and quickly adapt to routines and schedules. I'm nearly fully house-trained, although I may need supervision around rugs and carpets. While I'm not a fan of crates, I'm a gentle soul with no aggressive tendencies. Chew toys are a must for me—I love them!

I get along famously with the other dogs in my foster home, and I'm also okay with kids and cats, although sudden movements or loud noises from little ones might startle me. Despite being a Shiba, I haven't shown much prey drive—I'm more interested in watching swans than chasing them!

Health-wise, I'm spayed, vaccinated, and weigh a cozy 18 pounds. Occasionally, my eyes water and leave tear stains on my face, but the vet assures me it's nothing to worry about.

If you're in the Midwest and seeking a quiet, sweet companion to be your loyal shadow, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to learn more about me and apply to become an approved SIRA adopter.

I can't wait to find my forever family and share all the love and joy I have to offer. Thank you for considering me! 🐾

Must Haves for Franklin:
Another dog or many dog friends to visit and play with
Patience for an energetic puppy still learning manners
No younger children (under 10 yrs)

Hi there! I’m Franklin, and I’m here to steal your heart! I'm a spunky Shiba puppy, not even a year old yet, and I'm on the hunt for my forever home.

Let me tell you a little about myself: I’m smart, curious, and full of energy! At 14 pounds, I might be small, but I have a big personality. I’m not skittish—nope, I’m your typical crazy Shiba puppy with tons of energy and plenty of opinions to share.

I love chasing rabbits in the yard and playing with toys. Walks are one of my favorite things, especially since I get to sniff everything along the way. I’m still learning to walk nicely on a leash without zig-zagging all over the place, but hey, I’m a quick learner—especially if there are treats involved! Speaking of which, I already know how to sit and wait at the door until I get the go-ahead to head outside.

Now, I have to admit, I do enjoy the sound of my own voice. When foster mom puts me in my crate, I might throw a little tantrum (have you heard a Shiba scream? It's something!). Because of my vocal nature, I’d probably do best in a home where walls aren’t shared with neighbors. I’d love a forever family that’s ready to play with me, keep me company, and continue my training so I can grow up to be the best dog ever.

I get along with the teenagers in my foster home In Illinois, but I might be a bit too loud and rambunctious for small kids. I haven’t met any cats or small pets yet, but with my high prey drive, I might be a bit too interested in them.

I’m a healthy boy, vaccinated and neutered, but I do have a grade 4 heart murmur caused by a small hole in my heart (VSD). The vet says it shouldn’t stop me from having a happy, active, and long life, but I will need regular check-ups with a veterinary cardiologist to keep an eye on things.

If you’re in the Midwest and think we’d be a great match, I’d love to meet you! Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. Let’s start our adventure together!

Patient and quiet with no young children
Secure fenced Yard
Another dog in home

I'm Dixie, a 4-year-old, 17-pound girl looking for my forever home. I came to my foster home in Jonesburg, MO, from a not-so-nice place, so I'm a bit scared and shy around humans. But guess what helps? Freeze-dried beef liver treats! Yum!

I'm a smart and curious girl, and I love playing keep-away in the yard. At first, foster mom couldn't catch me, even with a long drag-leash. But now, I've learned that letting her approach and pick me up is okay. I enjoy exploring the fenced yard and had fun with another Black & Tan Shiba here—we even had daily secret meetings until she found her forever home. Foster mom says my turn is next!

I'm healthy, spayed, and vaccinated. My perfect forever home will be experienced with fearful dogs and patient as I learn to feel safe. Since I'm a door-bolter, especially when adjusting to new surroundings, my forever family will need to prevent escapes. A securely fenced yard is a must. I'm learning to walk on a leash but need more confidence.

I get along well with other dogs and will need a friendly resident dog to help me adapt. I'm good with cats, but little kids might be too scary for me.

If you live in the Midwest and want to help a petite, pretty girl like me learn to trust and blossom, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn about you and your home environment to make sure we'll be a good match. Once approved, they'll connect you with my foster mom so we can meet. Hint: Bring liver treats!

Love,
Dixie 🐾

I'm Foxie Girl, a 7-year-old, 32-pound sweetheart looking for my forever home. I spent my early years in a commercial breeding facility, where humans were scary. Now, I'm in a loving foster home in Jonesburg, MO, learning to trust and enjoy life.

I'm shy, but with the kindness and patience of my foster parents, I'm starting to relax and show my true self. I love exploring the fenced yard and playing with the other dogs here—they make me feel safe. I'm even okay with the resident cats and learning to walk on a leash!

I'm looking for a forever home with a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to help me adjust. Cats are fine, but no small kids, please—they're a bit too much for me. Health-wise, I'm spayed, vaccinated, and have a grade 2 heart murmur, which doesn’t need treatment.

I'm Fawn, your playful and affectionate pup on the hunt for my forever home! At nearly 1 year old and 21 pounds, I'm bursting with energy and love. Rescued from a breeding facility, I've found my way to a loving foster home in Jonesburg, MO.

I'm a smart cookie who loves to play and make friends, whether it's with other dogs, toys, or my foster family. I'm eager to explore the world on leash walks and would thrive in an active household. While older kids are cool, I'm still learning my manners and may be too rambunctious for little ones.

Good news—I get along with cats too! Just keep an eye on those doors and gates—I've got a bit of a Houdini streak! Spayed and vaccinated, I'm ready to be your loyal companion.

If you're in the Midwest and ready for some puppy love, apply to become an approved SIRA adopter at www.savingshibas.com/adopt. Can't wait to meet you!

Meet Anika: Your Sweet and Shy Future Family Member!

Ideal Home:
Securely fenced yard
Another friendly dog to boost my confidence
Experienced adopters familiar with shy/fearful dogs

My Story:
Hi there! I’m Anika, a 4-year-old, 25-pound Shiba Inu with a heart full of love and curiosity. I was rescued by SIRA from a commercial breeding facility and brought to my wonderful foster home in Smithville, MO. At first, everything was new and scary, but I’m starting to find my brave side!

My Personality:
I’m a sweet girl who’s learning to enjoy the good things in life. I adore playing with toys and chewing on them, though I might pretend I wasn’t if I catch you watching – I’ve got to maintain my mysterious Shiba charm, after all! I get along fabulously with other dogs and especially love snuggling up with my foster brother, Danny.

Life in My Foster Home:
Lazy days filled with napping and exploring are my jam. There are two human kids here, and even though I’m a bit skittish around loud noises, I’m okay with them petting me. I’m starting to feel comfortable seeking attention from my foster family and even allow the adults to hold me for a bit before I decide I’ve had enough.

What I Enjoy:
Leash walks are okay, but I really thrive with the freedom to run in a securely fenced backyard. I love chasing birds and squirrels, but don’t worry – I don’t try to climb over the fence. Indoors, I’m a perfect lady: fully house-trained, non-destructive, and okay with short periods in my kennel.

Health:
I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated, ready to bring joy to my forever family.

Enjoy peaceful walks in quiet areas

My name is Freckles, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home. If you're seeking a quiet, laid-back girlie who loves naps and peanut butter sandwiches, then look no further! Let me tell you a bit about myself and why I could be the perfect companion for you.

At 6 years old and weighing 32 lbs, I retired from my job at a commercial breeding facility and am now enjoying the peaceful life in my foster home in Troy, MO. Napping is my favorite pastime, and I take it very seriously. Foster mom claims I snore, but I politely disagree—I just like to express myself with a gentle sigh when disturbed.

Despite my love for relaxation, I do enjoy going for walks and exploring the outdoors, unless there are loud noises like thunder or motorcycles—I draw the line there and insist on heading back home immediately. Some may call me stubborn, but I prefer to think of it as having strong opinions, like any smart girl should!

I'm well-behaved and quiet, making me suitable for apartment living, according to foster mom. I'm potty trained and don't cause any trouble around the house, although I do have a habit of collecting toys and storing them in my special nest under the bed. Foster mom calls me a hoarder, but I like to think of it as being prepared for any playtime emergencies.

I get along well with dogs and even cats. While I'm curious about kittens, I don't chase them—I have no time for such antics. I'm a healthy girl, spayed, and vaccinated.

If you're in the Midwest and have a soft spot just waiting for someone to nap in, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA ensure we're a good match, and once approved, they'll connect you with my foster mom so we can meet!

Thank you for considering me as a potential addition to your family. I can't wait to find my forever home and share naps and peanut butter sandwiches with you!

I'm Ghost, your friendly and affectionate Shiba! At about 6 years old and 27 pounds, I'm here to spread love and joy. Rescued after a stint as a stray, I've bounced back to health and happiness in my foster home in Jonesburg, MO.

Unlike some divas, I'm all about love and fun! People, dogs, cats, toys—you name it, I love it! I'm a playful pup who adores romping in the yard with my furry friends. When it's time to unwind, I'm all about snuggling up with my humans.

While I'm still mastering leash walks, I'm eager to learn and explore. A home with another dog companion would be awesome, but I'll thrive with plenty of love and attention as an only dog too. Just keep an eye on those doors and gates—I'm a bit of an escape artist!

I'm spayed, vaccinated, and ready to be your loyal best friend. If you're in the Midwest and ready for some Shiba love, apply to become an approved SIRA adopter at www.savingshibas.com/adopt. Can't wait to meet you!

Transitioning from a commercial breeding facility to my foster home in Montgomery, IL, has been eye-opening. I adore neck scritches and solving food puzzles—proof of my cleverness!

Love to go on walks and cuddle

Hello, I'm Konai, a sweet and snuggly 8-year-old boy in search of my forever home! I left behind my days at a commercial breeding facility and now enjoy the love and care of my foster home.

I'm a true cuddle bug, and I get so excited when my foster mom comes home that I jump and spin with joy. I love following her around, and she says I'm her cuddle bug. I also adore other dogs, whether it's playing with them or simply hanging out. While I'd love a nice dog friend in my forever home, I could also be an "only dog" as long as my family is around a lot.

I enjoy going for walks and exploring the neighborhood, and I'm fine without a fence. Treats, naps, and playing with toys are some of my favorite pastimes. Foster mom wants you to know that I might snore a bit, but I don't believe her!

After some health challenges and surgery, I'm now healed and ready for my forever family. I'll need a prescription diet, regular vet check-ups, and ultrasound exams every 6 months to stay healthy. While I haven't lived with little humans, foster mom thinks I'd be okay with them.

If you're in the Midwest and looking for a sweet, silly snuggle-buddy like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to start the process. I'm eager to find my forever family!

No children under 10 yrs old

My name is Maria, and I'm in search of my forever home. Let me tell you a little about myself and why I believe I could be a wonderful addition to your family.

At not even 1 year old, I'm a petite little sesame girl weighing 16 lbs. I came from a commercial breeding facility to my foster home in Jonesburg, MO. I may be young, but I'm super playful, especially outside with the other dogs here. I'm also very smart, although my foster mom says I can be a bit of a daredevil, jumping up on high things like tables.

Like many Shiba puppies, I'm a big chewer, but I'm also shy with people at first. However, my sweet side shines through once I get to know you, especially when we're inside. I love human attention, especially when foster mom picks me up and carries me around.

My perfect forever home would have a securely fenced yard where I can run, jump, and play safely. While I'm still mastering leash walking, my humans will need to be careful about any gaps in the fence or places where I can climb out or jump over. I would also love to have another playful dog at home. Little kids might not be the best match for me at this age, but I currently live with cats and am good with them.

I'm a healthy girl, spayed, and vaccinated. If you live in the Midwest and are looking for a sweet, playful friend to add to your home, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA ensure we'll be a good match. Once approved, they'll connect you with my foster mom so we can meet!

Ideal Home
Loves walks and active
Extra cautious to prevent escapes

My name is Brynn, and I'm looking for my forever home! I'm about 1 year old and weigh 24 pounds. I came to SIRA after being found all by myself with a broken leg. When nobody claimed me at the shelter, SIRA rescued me and brought me to my foster home here in Machesney Park, IL, to recuperate. Despite my ordeal, I'm a goofy, healthy, happy, and playful girl.

I love attention from my foster family—getting petted or picked up and held makes me so happy. I will ask for attention when I want it (Aroo!!) and I'll thank you with kisses on your hand. Treats also make me happy, especially when I watch foster dad fill up my food bowl! I'm good with other dogs and I love kids, even little ones. I'd be a great match for an active family since I have plenty of energy. My foster dad says I'm one of the most easy-going dogs he has ever fostered.

I have excellent leash manners, though I might tug just a bit sometimes. I'm potty trained and well-behaved when left alone in my pen. I haven't met any cats, so I don't know how I'd react to them. My forever home will want to be careful to guard against escapes so I never have to go through another ordeal again. Shibas can be sneaky, slipping out of open doors or through even tiny gaps in a fence.

Now that my leg is healed, I'm a healthy girl—spayed, vaccinated, and ready for my forever family! If you think I might be right for you, the next step is to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we'll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster dad so we can meet.

Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply.

Looking forward to meeting you,
Brynn 🐾

Ideal home:
Quiet and patient home
Secure fenced yard
No small children

My name is Diesel, and I'm searching for my forever home. Let me tell you a bit about myself and what I'm looking for in a family.

At 5 years old and weighing 33 lbs, I recently transitioned from a commercial breeding facility to my SIRA foster home in Fenton, MO. Everything is new to me, and I'm still adjusting to the sights and sounds of a home environment. Loud noises and sudden movements can startle me, but with each passing day, I'm becoming more comfortable and learning to relax, thanks to the love and attention from my foster mom.

I'm a loverboy at heart, enjoying snuggling up with my foster family on the couch and soaking in their affection. But nothing brings me more joy than being outdoors in a fenced yard, where I can run, leap, and play to my heart's content. I'm quiet and well-behaved indoors, house-trained, and content to sleep through the night in my crate without a fuss.

While I haven't been around human kids yet, I get along well with other dogs and cats, showing little interest in them. I'm also starting to learn how to walk on a leash, but I'll need a family committed to practicing with me until I become a pro. A securely fenced yard is a must for me, along with a family dedicated to keeping me safe from accidental escapes.

Although I'd love to have a doggy friend to play with, I'll also do well as the only pet in a home where my humans have plenty of time to play and bond with me. I'm a healthy boy, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations, ready to bring joy and companionship to a loving family.

If you reside in the Midwest and are interested in welcoming a handsome, sweet boy like me into your home, please consider visiting www.savingshibas.com/adopt to start the approval process with SIRA. They'll ensure that we're a good match before introducing you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Thank you for considering me as a potential addition to your family. I'm excited at the possibility of finding my forever home with you!

Warm regards,
Diesel 🐾

Patience to let me shine

Hello wonderful humans!

I'm Ranger, a 2-year-old, 20-pound charmer, on the lookout for my forever home. Before we dive in, here are my "must-haves": a securely fenced yard, a kid-free forever home, and a family that understands shy/fearful dogs. You see, my past has been a bit rough, but I'm ready for the love and kindness I truly deserve.

I came into SIRA's care after being abandoned by a commercial breeder. The vet noticed right away that I hadn't been treated kindly—some teeth knocked out, others broken. They fixed up my mouth, and SIRA placed me in a special foster home where I could recover and feel safe. And let me tell you, things have been SO much better here!

In my foster home, I've discovered the joy of play—throwing toys around and wrestling with other dogs. Treat time is a highlight, especially those AMAZING beef liver treats. I'm a smart and good boy, but leash training has been a challenge. I'm sensitive to things around my neck, so my foster family is helping me get used to a step-in harness. A securely fenced yard is a must for potty breaks and playtime.

I'd thrive in a forever family that's patient and familiar with shy/fearful dogs, allowing me to continue blossoming into the best version of myself. While I'd love canine companionship, let's skip the small human kids—they're a bit too scary for me!

If you're in the Midwest and ready to open your heart to a handsome guy like me, head to www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more info and to start the application process. Your application helps SIRA understand if we're the perfect match. Once approved, we can meet, and I can't wait for that day! 🐾

I'm Dash, on the lookout for my forever fun-filled home! At 1 year old and 19 lbs, I'm all about cozy cuddles and canine companionship. No tots, please— they tend to spook me.

Transitioning to Michigan, I've found comfort in couch cuddles with my foster mom and the paw-some pups here. Though shy around strangers, leash walks are a blast, minus the loud trucks.

Food? You bet! But watch out for my chewing escapades—tennis balls beware! Teenagers? Meh. Cats? Unsure. Baths? Nope.

Neutered and vaccinated, I'm a gem in need of a patient Midwest family. Learn more about me and the other shibas looking for a home and apply at www.savingshibas.com and let's meet!

Hi there, I'm Carlee, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home! I'm a 7-year-old, 27-lb bundle of joy currently enjoying life in Jonesburg, MO. I spent my whole life in a commercial breeding facility, making puppies until SIRA rescued me along with many others.

Adjusting to this new life took a bit, but I'm starting to realize that I hit the jackpot! My foster home has this fantastic fenced yard, and let me tell you, running free is my absolute favorite thing. I do laps around the yard with the biggest grin because, well, I'm just so darn happy!

Humans used to be scary, but my foster family has shown me kindness and gentleness. I'm getting braver each day, and now I enjoy attention, especially if it involves being held or sitting on the couch next to them.

For my forever home wish list, a securely fenced yard is a must. I'm still learning about walking on a leash, but I'm not quite a pro yet. I get along with cats, and having another dog around would be nice, but I think I'd do fine on my own as long as my family is patient with any shyness or fear I might show initially.

If you have older, quieter kids, that's cool too, as long as they're gentle and patient. Small kids might be a bit too much for me. I'm a healthy girl, spayed, and up-to-date on vaccinations.

If you're in the Midwest and interested in a goofy, sweet, and happy girl like me, check out www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more info and to start the application process. Applying helps SIRA ensure we're a good match, and once approved, you can meet my foster mom and, hopefully, me!

My name is Zena, I'm 9 years old and weigh only 14 pounds, but don't let my size fool you—I have a huge personality! I came to my foster home in Belleville, IL.

This new life is wonderful, though it can be a bit scary with all the strange noises and experiences. Even if I'm skittish at first, once I get used to things, I relax and let my inner diva shine! I love going for walks and am well-behaved on leash. Sometimes, I even let strangers pet me if my foster mom is holding me. I adore my foster mom! She gives me treats, and I shower her with affection and kisses.

Foster mom thinks I would thrive as an only dog in my forever home since I don't really play or interact with the other dogs here. Meal time and treats are some of my favorite things, and I love rounding up all the stuffed toys and putting them in one place. I like keeping track of my babies and will move them to a new spot every few days. I'm okay with the other dogs in my foster home and don't pay attention to the cats. Sometimes indoors, I growl or snap at the other dogs if they get too close to my food or my stuff. Hey, I've got to show them that I can stand up for myself, right?
Because I can be vocal, I might not be the best match for an apartment or condo with shared walls. I'm a very smart girl. I've learned to open cabinets and find all kinds of treasures inside, and I can magically get into rooms blocked by baby gates (I'm not telling how!). I am also fully house-trained.

Because I'm small, I can squeeze through really tiny openings, so my forever home will need to be careful about even small gaps in or under a fence or gate. I'm a healthy girl—spayed and vaccinated. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in a big personality in a small package, I'll be your BFF for life!

The next step is to apply to become an approved adopter with SIRA. Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to start the process. Once approved, they'll connect you with my foster mom so we can meet!

Looking forward to meeting you,
Zena 🐾
