My name is Mr. Clean and I’m looking for my forever home. Why am I named after a bald guy? Well, I came to SIRA after I was found lying in mud on the side of the road, emaciated and bald from a severe flea infestation. I was in bad shape. X-rays showed metal and food wrappers in my tummy – I was starving! My ears were infected and I was very anemic. But once I was found - and got good food and vet care - things got much better! My fur started growing back and my ears healed. And I gained weight–I’m about 28 pounds now. I am being fostered north of Columbus, OH. SIRA thinks I’m about 10 y.o. I’m great with other dogs and I love cuddling with my people. Yep, you heard right. I’m a “fake Shiba” since I love to snuggle. My foster family was told that I may have a bad disc in my back and something going on with my hips, but so far, nothing slows me down. I spin and dance my way through the house! After potty breaks, I get the most exquisite zoomies. I pirouette, fling myself on the couch, and dance around the whole house. I love going on leash walks, getting treats and belly rubs, and perching on my favorite chair. I’ll happily tell you off if you’re too slow to take me outside or not sharing your treats with me. I am fully house trained and I do fine when my foster family has to leave the house. Now that I’ve beaten the odds, the only thing I need is a forever family. My perfect forever home will have a nice comfy spot with a sunbeam to nap in and someone who will let me sit in their lap and give me a rub-down. If there’s another nice dog, that would be great, but I’d probably do fine as an only dog as long as you spend time with me. I’d do best with a securely fenced yard, but also enjoy leash walks. I haven’t lived with children, cats or small pets, so I don’t know how I’d be with them. But I'm neutered and vaccinated and ready to go! If you live in the Midwest and want to give my “rags to riches” story its happy ending, I promise I’ll be your fun, smart, spunky very best buddy. Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you to make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet. I would love that!

Meet Foxie Girl – A Shy Beauty with a Gentle Soul

Foxie Girl is a 7-year-old, 32-pound Shiba with a heart as tender as her name suggests. After spending her early years in a commercial breeding facility, she’s now safe in a foster home in Jonesburg, MO, where she's slowly discovering what it means to be loved.

She’s still shy around humans, but every day brings new steps forward. With calm voices, gentle routines, and the steady presence of other dogs, Foxie is beginning to relax and show her sweet personality. Her favorite activities include exploring the fenced yard, quietly observing the world, and sticking close to her canine companions.

Foxie does best in a home with:

A securely fenced yard

At least one friendly, confident dog

No small children (they’re a little too much for her right now)

Patient humans who understand that trust takes time

She’s fine with cats and is even getting the hang of leash walks! Foxie is spayed, vaccinated, and has a low-grade heart murmur (Grade 2) that doesn't require treatment.

If you live in the Midwest and can offer this lovely girl the quiet, loving home she deserves, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply. Once approved, SIRA will connect you with her foster mom to set up a meet-and-greet.

Foxie Girl is ready for a life filled with safety, kindness, and peace. Could she be the missing piece in your heart?

Meet Brad – A Gentle Soul with a Melty Gaze 🐾

Brad is a 9-year-old, 34-pound sweetheart who’s ready to trade in his past life as a commercial breeding dog for one filled with belly rubs, soft beds, and quiet companionship. He’s currently learning what it means to be loved in his foster home in Machesney Park, IL, and he’s already proving to be one of the goodest boys.

🐶 Calm, Kind, and Curious
Brad may be a little cautious at first, but his sweet, trusting nature always shines through. On his very first day, he surprised his foster dad by walking right up, looking into his eyes, and asking for a gentle hello. (Yes, foster dad totally melted.)

He’s a polite houseguest—no accidents, no mischief, just a calm presence that follows his people around and asks for affection with the softest little boop. Sit still long enough, and Brad will appear at your side, asking for head scritches and offering his soulful eyes as a thank you.

🐕 Good with Dogs & Respectful with Kids
Brad gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He’s also been great with the resident kids—if the toddler gets a bit too loud, Brad simply finds a quiet spot to hang out. He especially enjoys spending time near the calm, older child while she does homework.

🏡 Brad’s Perfect Home
This easy-going guy would thrive in a calm, quiet household with a securely fenced yard. He’s still getting the hang of leash walking, so yard access is a must for now. He’d enjoy the company of other friendly dogs and is likely fine with cat-savvy cats. Like many Shibas, Brad is curious and quick—so you’ll need to be mindful around open doors and gates.

💉 Brad is neutered, vaccinated, healthy, and full of love—he just needs a patient and gentle family to show him the good life.

If you live in the Midwest and want a sweet, calm, heart-melting companion, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply and become an approved SIRA adopter. The application helps SIRA make sure you and Brad are the perfect fit. Once approved, you’ll get to meet this lovely gentleman in person.

Brad is ready to boop your heart wide open. 💛

Hi, I’m Juno — 5 years old, 35 lbs, and full of love! 📍 Fostered in Joliet, IL

💛 My owner had to move to a nursing home, so now I’m looking for a new family to cuddle, walk, and share snacks with.

I’m a total people dog — scritches, snacks, and sticking close to my humans are my favorite things. Baths? Meh. Crates and gates? Not a fan. But I’m a very good boy when left alone (just… maybe hide the snacks on the counter 😇).

Walks are my jam! I do pull a bit if I see squirrels or bunnies, so no cats or small pets for me, please. I get along with other dogs, but I can be a bit protective of food and toys. I’d do great as an only dog or with a family experienced in managing resource guarding.

I’d love a fenced yard to play in, but regular leash walks are awesome too. Just be careful around doors and gates — I’m quick! 🏃‍♂️ I’d do best in a home without small kids and no shared walls (I’ve got a big bark when I want to be heard).

I’m neutered, vaccinated, and my allergies are under control with daily meds. I’m healthy, happy, and ready to be your loyal best friend. 💕

👉 Apply to adopt me at www.savingshibas.com/adopt and hopefully we can meet soon!

🐾 Meet Anne — The Sweet, Curious Pup Ready for Her Forever Family! 🐾

Hi there! I’m Anne, a happy little girl who’ll turn 1 year old in September! I weigh about 18 lbs, and I’m living my best puppy life in Dorchester, IA, while waiting for my forever home.

I started out in a commercial breeding facility, but now I’m learning what it means to be a loved family member — soft beds, tasty treats, and playtime galore! I can be a little shy around new people or sudden noises, but once I warm up, I’m full of tail wags, wiggles, and love. 💕

I love playing chase with other dogs, zooming around the yard, and proudly de-stuffing my toys (it’s a special skill). I’m good with calm kids and respectful cats, and I’m doing great with potty training and crate time. Leash walks are still a work in progress — I prefer fenced yard zoomies right now!

My perfect home? A patient family who understands that shy pups just need a little time to shine. Another friendly dog would be awesome, but I’d do fine solo too, as long as I get plenty of play and love.

I’m spayed, vaccinated, and healthy, with just a mild heart murmur that doesn’t slow me down.

If you live in the Midwest and want to add a sweet, affectionate pup like me to your family, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt
to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. Once you’re approved, my foster mom and I can’t wait to meet you! 💗

Hi, I’m Dixie!

I’m a 4-year-old, 17-pound little lady looking for my forever home. Life started out a bit rough for me, but thanks to my foster family in Jonesburg, MO, I’m learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I might be shy and scared at first, but here’s a tip—freeze-dried beef liver treats are the way to my heart!

I’m a curious and clever girl who loves playing keep-away in the yard. Back when I first arrived, foster mom couldn’t catch me, even with a drag leash! But now, I’ve learned that it’s okay to let her approach and pick me up—it even feels kind of nice. Exploring the fenced yard is one of my favorite things, and I’ve even had fun bonding with another Shiba here. She found her forever home, and foster mom says I’m next in line!

I’m healthy, spayed, and vaccinated—ready to start this exciting new chapter with a family who understands me. My perfect home will have patient humans experienced with shy, fearful dogs and another friendly resident dog to help me feel safe and confident. A securely fenced yard is a must for me to explore and play while I continue building trust.

I’m still working on leash skills, so I’ll need someone willing to help me gain confidence there. I’m good with cats but would do best in a calm home without little kids—they’re just a bit too overwhelming for me.

If you’re in the Midwest and ready to help a shy, sweet girl blossom, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply. Once approved, SIRA will connect you with my foster mom so we can meet. Don’t forget those liver treats!

Wags and love,
Dixie 🐾

🐾 Meet Stan the Man! 🐾
Looking for a low-key companion with a heart of gold and a taste for snacks? Stan just might be your guy. Stan is a 6-year-old, 32-lb Shiba who is fostering in Des Plaines, IL.

✨ Chill Vibes Only
Stan’s foster mom describes him as “laid-back, sweet, and surprisingly zen for a guy who’s figuring out life in a home for the first time.” He may be a little shy at first, but give him a little kindness and he’s all in. His idea of a good time? Wandering the fenced yard sniffing the news, lounging in the softest spot in the house (which used to be a bed made of his own fur), and quietly keeping you company.

🧽 Grooming MVP
Stan’s coat was a wild mess when he arrived, but after his first-ever bath and a serious de-shedding session (he was a champ through it all), he’s feeling like a new dog. Foster mom says he stood like a statue for plucking. Model behavior.

🐕 Dog-Friendly, Human-Loyal
Stan gets along fine with the other dogs in the home, though he’s not into roughhousing or puppy shenanigans. He prefers calm company and will make a wonderful, mellow best friend to a dog-savvy human. He hasn’t met cats, but his easygoing nature suggests he’d do okay with one. He’s also learning the ropes on leash walks (slow and steady progress) and is perfectly happy to hang out in his crate when you leave.

🚫 Stan’s No List:

No young kids—too noisy, too chaotic

No wild playgroups—this guy’s all about peace and quiet

No high-maintenance expectations—Stan’s motto: “Snack, sniff, chill.”

🏡 Stan’s Perfect Home:
A calm household with a securely fenced yard is a must, since yard sniffs are his favorite thing. Bonus points if you like a quiet companion with expressive eyes and a love of soft bedding. And snacks. Did we mention snacks?

Stan is healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and just waiting for the right person to share the couch (or a sunbeam) with.

Ready to meet your mellow best bud? Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply. Once approved, SIRA will connect you with Stan’s foster mom for a meet-and-greet.

🧡 Adopt Stan – for a life of calm companionship and soulful stares.

Meet Tina – Tiny, Sassy, and Full of Love!

I’m Tina, a 7-year-old, 14-pound firecracker looking for my forever home! Life started rough in a commercial breeding facility, so when I first arrived at my foster home in Jonesburg, MO, I acted tough. But with patience and love, I realized—I’m SAFE! One day, it just clicked, and I ran straight to my foster mom for love. Now, my silly, playful side is here to stay!

I’m potty trained, keep myself busy “murdering” squeaky toys, and always demand attention before heading outside. I get dogs sometimes, but I'd really prefer to be the only dog, but Cats? I don’t mind them!

I’m healthy, spayed, and vaccinated. My ideal home? Adults only, with a securely fenced yard where I can zoom around. My new family should be mindful of open doors—Shibas are sneaky escape artists! I’m still learning leash skills, but I’ll get the hang of it with practice.

If you're in the Midwest and want a tiny pup with a BIG personality, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply. Let’s meet—I promise to keep you entertained!

Love, Tina 🐾
